Glass couriering ?
I have just found some very rare 2 door glass for my Cortina project. Trouble is they're in Cumbria
Does anyone have any experience of couriering car glass around ? OR anyone up that way heading south anytime soon ? |

We go over to Cumbria quite often but don't have any plans on heading down to South Wales other wise i'd have picked them up for you. As for postage i'd use a courier but if they are well wrapped up & the corners are protected they should be fine

Good luck mate I hope you find someone; I had a real problem with my windscreen , Not finding a courier, easy, Not getting a good price, 25£ ,
But the real problem is getting one who could be bothered to pick it up! Got one who even said they had picked it up,turned out they hadn't . There excuse "The van broke down" ye! |

We as a group have not been good at the Pony Express, it used to be fairly common a few years back, when there were more regional meetings. Clearly it is unlikely that if members do this, it can be done in one, so it might make it to Cannock, J11, or J12 on the M6 Then the next leg two weeks later. If we were really organised, between members, we could offer regular routes we do, and given time link several together. However, a good courier could move anything within two days to virtually anywhere in the UK for £10-£20 I agree the main issue here is packaging, who will take responsibility for damage? I have received 2' fluorescent tubes in the post, with minimum packing, virtually the outer cardboard, and they have made it ok. I have also received items wrapped in bubble wrap, then a box, then more bubble wrap around that, and the item inside pulverised. It all depends on how they are handled, fragile items, should only be thrown underarm...lol Then the items are on the floor of a truck, sliding around... When we have bought stuff on ebay, and it is too far, we often decide to incorporate it into a weekend away. We have been to Selby, Conwy, Herne Bay, Southampton, Gloucester, and sometimes it has to be there and back in a day, sometimes in a hired tailgate lift truck. I guess it depends on what the hobby means to you. We have also bought stuff locally, a few within walking distance. Rustic

Thanks again Rustic. At the time of writing I didn't know where in Cumbria
The main issue here is that responsibility lies with the chap selling the glass . IF he wraps it well then agreed there's no issue. My early inquiries suggest that improper packing voids damage claims Any road up I'll get the full address and try a Pony Express doda |
