When you think about it, there are only two basic moves that you need to learn.
how to get a square from anywhere on the cube, to either a central point on one face, or to one corner of one face.
Years ago I had instructions to do just that, but to be honest, if you give the top a 45 degree twist, and the bottom row a 45 degree twist, and here is the clever part...

Take a tea spoon and insert it into the gap, and twist... and it all comes apart, and you can reassemle it in half a minute.

Jeez back in 1982 I used to be able to do the cube. Wish I could still remember how to do it.

It's strange how you can forget... It's not like riding a Bike then..

I was never able to do it, but my little brother was a real wiz. My mum found one of the old cubes at Christmas, and was playing around with it. She asked if one of us would solve it for her, and my brother was the same as you, and said he had forgotten how to do it now.
