Alternative auction websites.
Just wondering what other auction sites people use other than e.bay.
I use e.bay quite a lot for buying, but seller fees restrict the amount I am able to sell. |

e-bay alternatives
Yeah e-bays fees are a bit much especially as they used to take a cut via Paypal too when they owned them.
Gumtree is a more local option but all my attempts to buy via Gumtree have failed to get responses from sellers. I found there were a lot of scammers on Gumtree when I was looking for my Chrysler one was advertised on Gumtree then when you made enquries to buy there was an e-mail reply stating seller was working on an oil rig in the North Sea and car was in in Scotland pay first then a full refund given if not satisfied. I googled the sellers e-mail address and a link to an American website showed it was a scam that included vehicles that were purported to be in Spain were RHD spec etc to attract UK buyers. Vehicle would be shipped over and refund given if not satisfied. Some people fell for it and lost what they paid with no vehicle supplied. |

Yes £32 out of £187 is considerably more than the 10% I was led to believe you pay.
As for the scammers they are getting every where including e.bay they must be successful at it. I put my old truck on e.bay & gumtree but it sold through e.bay in the end don't think I had one call from the gumtree ad. |

i cant moan though as i ran a rally at a site called rickles near hunstanton,i have been there many times and owner asked if i wanted to upgrade my old van.
i looked and it was a 91 sprite 2,2 berth.1 owner criss reged not been of off the site and owners died 1 at a time.shame. family wanted shot so was going to breakers,i checked it over a good solid floor no damp except wash room, was fractured skylight so dripped into shower tray, all new carpets under over carpets and new cushions under covers.took it for tow and agreed a £100 price.so 2 new skylights,2 sh 8ply tyres everything worked and am still using it.skylights came from a shop closing down so all in it came in less than £175 done 12000 mls with it in 2 years.only thing i need is a cassette toilet and hot water.what a bargain it turned out to be. |
