Side step U bolt needed
The sidesteps (original) on my 1994 T2 are retained by two large U bolts which go around the chassis - I've just sheared one
Does anyone have one they would be willing to sell me (please don't tell me sidesteps are gay, my T2 is my everyday transport when in Spain and with 'er indoors being on the diminutive side she needs them, plus my daughter uses the car when I'm not in Spain and the kids need them). If someone could come up trumps I would be eternally grateful, and even more eternally grateful if they were able to post them to Spain for me (doesn't matter if not, I'll find some way of bodging it until I can bring the U bolt over at Christmas). Ta very muchly |

Probably quite feasible but for the fact that we are looking after someones' house in Spain and have no access to a vice, plus all my taps and dies are back in England.
I'll have a look round for some 8mm threaded bar in the local ironmongers and see if I can find some way of bending it, although I would prefer to try to get hold of the correct U bolt if poss. |

To save you bending the threaded bar how about two pieces and a metal plate with nuts, that would form a clamp arrangement with your steps around chassis.

Right! Got me metre length of 8mm bar and a 6mm thick angle bracket which I plan to straighten and cut to the required length, now all I need is someone with a vice - ho hum!
