Terrano Camping Trailer

Did anyone see the Terrano that had been cut down to make a camping trailer on ebay last week? Basically rear section of a lwb. Cracking idea and Id thought about it a long time ago but you'll still have issues with the rust. Think the one on ebay looked a bit rough and had not got a braking system which I reckon it would of needed.
Has anyone else had the same sad thought as me about making one?

I thought about it years ago when I broke my old terrano,should be a thread on here somewhere.
to do it properly you will need to change the axle to a proper one with over run brakes fitted.
a lot of work but if you have got the knowledge,cash and time then go for it.
mine was just going to be a general use trailer not a camper.
easiest way would be to modify and old caravan chassis and just bolt the body to that.

Yes i've seen it & have thought about doing it for years but the one on ebay looked very rough to me. One of the biggest probs I think is the axle as i'm sure your not allowed to use a truck axle any more & it has to be a proper trailer axle Apart from that bit the back end of a T2 could make a great camping trailer if it was all planed out right

with a bit of thought it could be done properly.
not just a case of welding a drawbar onto the back of a truck like what has been done with this one.

Your right there the front end should have been done so it was smooth & painted to match the rest of the body & nice tongue box up front for a battery & electrics, a water tank could be placed where the fuel tank go's could even use the filler cap to fill the water tank up (after new pipe work) kitchen on rear door & you could even add an awning on the side. I've thought about this to much

I like the idea of it but not been done in the most professional way,plus its illegal now to use a car axle for a trailer over 750kg,or so ive been told.

Yes it is illegal for trailers over 750 kg. Brakes cannot be car axle, as they have to automatically over ride when in reverse.
But this is less than 750 kg gross, doesn't leave much carrying weight though.

Has anybody spotted the obvious error, that makes this trailer actually illegal to be used on the road...?

But it could be sorted for a few pound...
