Where are you from?
So I was wondering about this, quite an interesting topic I think.
Where does everyone originate from, birth and blood? I was born in devon as a little country boy, by the age of 3 I had moved to Ealing and then to ruislip for the majority of my life, now in northolt with my partner of 5 years and I miss the countryside My blood is a weird mix, English, Irish, Scottish and I think Devonshire counts too C'mon all, spill the beans |

Well i've lived in SE Northumberland almost all of my life & apart from about 3.5 years i've lived in my home town Lived in Newcastle for about 6 months after moving out of the family home before moving to Blyth in Northumberland where I lived for 3 years then got married & back to my home town of Cramlington. My bloodline is 75% English & 25% Welsh (Grandad was born in Wales but the family moved to England when he was very young) TBH like the town we're in as we're surrounded by fields & woods & only 5 miles off the sea but have the A19 & A1 to the south & west of the town

Naturalized British when I was 12 years old
Well in 1947 my Mum who was Austrian worked in the NAFFI canteen in Klagenfurt that was occupied by the British Army on the Rhine.
My biological father was a Lance Corporal Albert Edward Dean who was posted initially to Italy and then to Austria where he was an Army Cook in the Catering Core. I was the product of their short relationship unfortunately my father caught Tuberculosis and died in Prestwood Sanatorium in 1948 when I was 5 months old. Its a long story but when I was 5 years of age my Mum who had raised me as a single parent managed to get us both into the UK. She later married my step father thereby obtaining British Citizenship through marriage. I applied for British Citizenship when I was 12 years of age. I am returning to Austria for a holiday in July to return my mothers ashes to her home village where I have a cousin Heidi. The little German I speak is as a result of taking a course in spoken German whilst at Bradford University 1967-71 reading Chemical Engineering. I worked in Krefeld in what was West Germany in 1969/70 as a part of my degree course. I have a Derbyshire Accent having lived in the County since 1953 I see myself as British in every sense of the word but if England played Austria at football I would have to support Austria on the sneak! |

Probably off topic but I married a triplet, born 1946 identical until their teens My Mrs and her identical sister used to swap jobs (hairdressers) and no one knew, but I could tell them apart from day one, Rick

Born & raised in Germany (dad was Army) until I was 7, then off to Australia for a few wonderful years, then back to Germany until Dad left the Army when I was 14 & we moved to Scotland. Then I joined the RAF & they immediately sent me back to, yep you guessed it, Germany
