I stick 2 stroke in my diesel at a ratio of 200:1, it's meant to help add back some of the lubrication properties that were lost when they took out the sulphur.
I'm convinced it makes the engine run smoother. It also MAY also give you a few more mpg but I'm not sure on that one |

having read Larsons link, I withdraw the above, I had not appreciated the lack of Sulphur in modern Derv, very interesting read, thank you Larson, Rick

I am an ex diesel engineer won a championship in the 70s, so got my head screwed on, just not kept up with modern changes ie reduced sulphur, so yes all makes perfect sense, Rick

2T oil in fuel
I use 2T oil (usually from Morrison's) in my petrol Santa Fe and in my previous diesel taerrano it always seems to make my engines smoother, quieter and marginally improves mpg been doing this for over 50 years.

Well i'm giving 2 stroke oil a go just added about 250ml to just under 3/4 tank of fuel We're hoping to get away camping on Monday so by the time we get back it should have started working it way through the system From what i've read 2T oil is supposed to help clean the injectors & glow plugs which can't be a bad thing

that sounds a lot.. i think i was putting 7ml to £10 worth of diesel.
it was some time ago now and tbh i forget the ratio but 250ml is a lot think back im unsure what i put in but never 250ml in 1 go.. maybe i just did not buy enough diesel at any 1 time |

i cut/paste this from the link. ratio is in there
The results of this research: any diesel additive of any manufacturer presently on the market is not worth the money! BUT: 2-stroke oil, which we use in our motor saws, lawn mower or in 2-stroke motor engines has shown to have an extreme positive impact on diesel engines, if such 2-stroke oil is added to the diesel in a homoeophatic dosis of 1:200. In practical terms: 0,300 litre of 2-stroke oil into the 70l diesel tank. The 2-stroke oil will be absorbed by the diesel (emulsion) and grease every moving part of the high pressure pump and the injectors. |

It has a 80L tank which will be getting topped up tomorrow so thought about 250ml would give me the 200-1 mix so I take it I got my maths totally wrong then
