Default Wifi & tablet probs

Could do with some tech help, got a versus touchtab 7 tablet yes I know nothing flash but it was free when my wife got her phone now it worked fine on the old O2 router but we changed to BT just after Xmas & got the latest home hub 5 router. Now the prob is the tablet won't connect to the hub 5 at all well it did for one night & all I keep getting is out of range even right next to the hub 5. All 3 laptops & phones connected no probs so I tried the factory reset on the tablet & still no joy.
Anyone got any ideas on how to solve it

what security is setup on the wireless and what is it set to - 2.4 or 5Ghz? Also, what channel is it on, or is it auto? It is possibly an incompatibility, but I would check the above first, certainly try changing the channel at least...

exactly, if its defaulted to 5ghz (N) then some devices will struggle. Also, if its set to "auto", this wont help either (like you, I had the same issue and had to set it to b&g only".

I think it might be set to 5Ghz which I think is the factory setting I know there was a desk top control you could down load off BT's site but can't find it now Had hell with BT getting it installed as the idiots had installed the master socket in the bathroom & wanted £200 to move it first engineer refused to do the install so had to wait even longer then theres the bills like trying to charge us for 2 routers & stuff we don't have or want TBH i'm no good with computers as you can't fix them with a hammer
Cheers for the help & will look into these things mentioned

There's a free Android app called wifi analyzer that will give you lots of information about your (and your neighbours), wifi that may help you to work out what's going on

To switch from 5GHz (N) to 2.4GHz (G) you'll need to access your routers web console, it will be under the Wi-Fi section. To find out your routers address you'll need to open a command prompt window and type "ipconfig" the address you'll want is the "Default Gateway" address under the section for your WiFi card addresses

Put this IP into your web browser and then enter the username and password to gain access to the router, these should be stamped onto the sticker that comes on the bottom of your router that provides your encryption key

Switch to 2.4GHz and restart the router and the network should then be visible from your tablet
