Ooh Rah! Fitted Foxy's winch bumper yesterday...
Old bumper off. Note the wings either side of the chassis and the bar across the front - they won't be staying!
This hole was a little concerning on the radiator mount but a job for another day (just realise it doesn't look it in the photo but the surrounding is solid) Cut protrusions off the chassis - they're not on the Aus spec ones and aren't structural (consensus is they're some sort of crumple point) and prevent you mounting the bumper - I checked the Patrol 4x4 forum Painted some Hammerite on the cut parts and any revealed slightly rusting spots (including mr. hole ) Winch bolted to bumper and bumper sat in front ready to mount (bugger me it was heavy to lift in front with the winch fitted! ). -ve cable and solenoid earth fitted to winch and fed through the front of the truck. Lifting the bumper in front with the help of the loader and a lifting strap (after fitting the solenoid cables to the winch and feeding them through) Finger tighten bolts while its supported by the loader. Solenoid all connected up and bolted in place. All done! |

it's been sitting in the barn since it was delivered and I didn't have time for a tidy up before fitting!
Plan is to give it a tidy/freshen up some point soon but wanted it fitted before the weather worsens as it can get pretty bad round the farm and I'm addicted to ignoring closed road signs... |

Forgot to say, one unintended consequence of the extra indicator lights is that the trailer lighting tell-tale flashes due to the extra current draw - LED bulbs have been ordered!
