8 valve or 16 valve ?
Hello Guys,
In the past I have had Nissan 4X4's. Worked in Dubai in early 90's and had a Pathfinder. More recently had a couple of X-Trails as company cars. I have my own company and drive Dispatch van but fancy getting a 4x4 again as have always enjoyed driving them. Going to get a diesel Terrano (£1,000 to £2000) and have been looking at Ebay, Auto Trader etc. I have looked at old post on here for things to look at when checking any potential purchases (great advice). One thing I have noticed on Auto Trader when checking performance and ecomomy page is difference in fuel consumption. 16 valve being better than 8 valve. Can't find any posts on this here and was wondering how you can tell if engine is 8v or 16v and is there any advantage to either option? Cheers.....Gazza |

But from what I have read you need to check the engine year as some have a weak point re pistons or con rods or cracked bores, cannot remember which, after a certain date they are apparently OK, Rick
