Mpg
Just towed the caravan from Essex to Newton Abbot and done some driving around got 451mls out of a tank ( fuel light on ) didn't think that was too bad average about 28.
What sort of return do you all get. Took £89 to fill it. Colin |

I don't work it out that often, as I use waste oil where I can, so it's not that expensive. Last time I tried working it out fully laden I got about 26 on a long run, but I have the older non intercooled 2.7 engine, I think all those electronic sensors and the intercooler give a bit better mpg, an extra 25 GG's and a host of sensor problems!
Need to do my hubs as I may get a little bit more if they're decently greased. |

inaccurate method, the way to do it is fill your tank to the brim, then do some miles, then fill it to the brim again, miles driven divided by gallons used, easy and accurate as long as you really do fill to the top of the filler, not just when the pump cuts, Rick

Hi all, 28mpg is excellent, when i'm towing with the 97 plate swb i get around 20mpg of 50/50 ktc/diesel, and the van weighs around 1600kgs +.the 52plate swb gives a little more about 23 mpg that runs on diesel alone.
rustygates.

On mine the speedo error is 20%+ @ 30mph, lessoning as the speed rises, to 10%+ @ 60mph (& maybe correct @ warp speed LOL). The milometer appears to have a similar, but smaller, error (when checked against TomTom) also altering with speed, but is much more difficult to ascertain exact amounts. I've checked consumption over a known long distance (eg. 147m on TomTom & various other vehicles, to Brean Sands) the milometer reads 151/155 miles(travelling mostly @55mph on the motorways) slightly more if speeds are lower. Going by the speedo I get around 22/23mpg towing 1.6T & 26mpg solo on long runs but in reality it's probably 5-10% less; bear in mind mine is a 3l auto. Good job I don't do too many miles a year it's a bit of a wallet-emptier. |
