Default intercooler question???

please bear with me if this sounds dumb or stupid

I have a 2.7td maverick 1994 (no intercooler model)

can I just buy an intercooler and fit it like the later intercooled models?????

any pics or info would be great

many thanks in advance

It's not a straight swap. I think Ryan has some pictures somewhere, as he was going to try to do it.

Things like
Inlet mainifold is different (missing mountings)
The rocker cover oil filler is stepped to bring it further forward.
I think the output of the Turbo is also at a different angle.

Probably easier to pipe in a larger front mount to sit In front of your rad

It is not just a case of sticking an inter cooler on, there has to be some means of telling the fuel pump that more/denser air is going in and the TD does not have that facility, Rick

pft you're all gay
It's perfectly do-able either top mount or front mount.
I went top just to keep it out the mud.
As said above you will need to make some I/C mounts, easy enough. Inlet mani is either a TIG welding mod or get a TDi one from the scrappy.
You'll need a bonnet too or do as I did and stick a scooby one on. Just angle grinder stuff really. Some silicone bends and clips etc.

See here for some ideas http://www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com/f...er+intercooler
Bare in mind you'll probably get around 10-15 bhp with a bit of a tweak of the pump too. So if you can do it yourself there's some horses at the end of it for you
