Default windoz taking control

Hi does anyone have windoz 8, I have just got a laptop with it on and it is trying to take control, just wondered if any one has similar problems and how to deal with it, I will not be ruled by a computer or any other Microsoft sh*t for that matter, Rick

Take care if you decide to change operating systems as your new laptop will have a new secure boot, UEFI. this has replaced the old bios. there are "work arounds" but not easy. David.

Not played with it yet, but Stinka, Windows 8 is a single OS that will infect tablets, phones, laptops, netbooks, desktops and servers in one form or another.

Very wary of it, although we have thought of a few gestures we could teach it, if we end up with it at work!

had it for a while, as we are Microsoft Partners, so been playing with it for months.

what do you mean by "taking control" though, ive not seen any such issue as yet, and we use it daily....but, my first thought would be User Account Control, which you can turn off, or adjust from with Users inside Control Panel.

read here:

also, have a play here for help

it is just that I have been using it for three days now and it has downloaded 1.6 gb of data and I have not a clue what it has downloaded? I have only downloaded 1 boiler manual a few kb, I have disabled most of the apps that I do not need or want, and it seems to have slowed the downloads down, also the touch pad is soo sensitive, and it does odd things but I guess I will learn to control this, other than the current inability to look round the system to see what is going on it seem OK, Rick oh look me smilies wor

Ah I see. There will be windows updates, news feeds, video feeds all sorts, its data hungry is Windows 8 much like Apple IOS and you have to turn that shit off if you are on a meter with your internet!

Try this

thanks clivvy, that is just the ticket, I only get 3gb per month which I do not normally get near to exceeding, but this month is going to cost, seems I must learn to keep my hand high when typing as the merest touch on the pad does weird things, Rick
