unable to access website
Over the last few days I have had trouble in getting on the website. My browser just tells me the site is unavailable. Never had this issue before.
Has there been some extra maintainance going on? |

Ongoing problem for quite a few members,me included, since the site was upgraded last year, Bat blames Orange but I don't have a contract with Orange, my contract is with nissan4x4ownersclub.com. It's a pain to be honest, just wish Bat would give Orange a call and see what he can work out with them to sort it, after all we are paying for a service and should be able to use it. Don't think I'm the only one a little annoyed over it. Some of the IT people on here reckon it can be fixed relatively easy with a few simple mods but that's not my field of expertise so maybe some of them will see your post and explain in detail. It's an intermittent fault with me and never lasts more than a couple of days at a time.

Bat has spoken to the ISP that hosts the site, they wont admit fault because they cant see the problem. Its a DNS issue, and yes you can easily resolve it using Bats guide or if you are technical adding your own host entry. Other options are to use different DNS servers, but again, you need to know how to do this, and you'd need to do it at the time the problem occurs, to see if it fixes the issues at that point (because it could turn out to be some other problem)
I have the exact same issue when I used either my Orange phone, or my TMobile 3g dongle. Peter is the same when he uses his 3G dongle, as far as I know most people withthe issue are using 3g or orange services. Somewhere there is a guide for making the changes in one of the threads.. |

same 20 second delay is a standard part of this package. No idea why they do it unless its to minimise traffic to the server.

I just tried "new posts" no delay at all, the only one I have noticed a delay massage is Search if I try and do one after another too quick, and I am on Orange with a wireless dongle on a laptop, it is true my system often slows right down but that applies to Yahoo mail and other sites not just this one, when that happens I just close my browser and terminate the connection, immediately start the connection and open my browser (Opera) and all is usually well again, sometimes it does not work, then I have to restart the PC, Rick

That 20-second thing is just a 'feature' of the template the site uses....its a PITA I have to say and not something I get on the other three car forums I'm on.....
