Couldnt organise a p up in a brewery
I really dont think our govt could organise a piss up in a brewery.
Has anyone seen tonights news and the farce is the evacuation of Brits from Libya ??? Theyre now playing very slow catch up The latest is various military units going in and covertly escorting brits out by road. What an f'ing shambles At one time something like HMS Albion would have stood off shore, well able to defend itself and extract a few hundred brits. They would have been supported by at least one aircraft carrier like Ark Royal with troops on the ground in the port for support. Clear message to gadaffi loyalists WOULD have been.............interfere and we will screw you up big time. However we cant because our stupid politicians have shafted the armed forces. Coupled with the govts further inability to organise the proverbial i feel heartily sorry for anyone caught up trying to get out of Libya Is it only me despairing at these lot |

Why should we the taxpayer pay ?
Quote:
The vast majority of ex-Pats have chosen to work in a country like Lybia as they pay high wages that are virtually free of UK tax. If you choose to work in a country like Lybia or Iran etc then I am sorry but it's at your own risk so do not bleat about your rescue being chaotic and late in the day. They should charge them a nice evacuation fee as well. Presumably we will end up providing housing and benefit as soon as they land in the UK and will they will be suing the UK government for loss of assetts abroad ! |

historicaly though we do look after our own. I do agree with billing them. My point though is the appalling lack of ability of this govt to actually get something done and the lack of assets to do it i mean this is the govt who's home secretary (ie the one who dictates terms and conditions on the police service) when told cops pay pension contributions at almost 11% per month , allegedly replied with words to the effect of " do they really ? didnt know that" |

what an interesting debate, i can see both points of view here, and the fact that we now seen so overstretched and under equipped in a world that seems to be constantly at war is a bit of a worry

Interesting story on the news tonight, top british sporting attitude.
Herc puts in in the desert and evacuated workers start getting on board. Local gadaffi supporter walks up to the herc and starts attacking the tyres with a machete. British soldier shoots him well...........he did start it We'll be getting the empire back at this rate |
