I get roughly 28 to 32 at 50mph. Not bad for such a heavy weight really,
When towing 22' 1300kgs caravan I get between 24 and 28 I was well pleased as i thought it would be very thirsty dragging that weight.. |

I'll put a spanner in the works here; the speeds you describe, are they from the speedo on the Mavrano, or from a more accurate (GPS) source?
I ask because my vehicle the speedo consistently over reads by about 6 to 8 mph up to 70, over 70 the discrepancy gets bigger. So if I drive at an indicated 50, I'm actually only doing about 43mph. Means it does the fuel economy good, but i also know I'm driving slower than the traffic conditions often allow. Hence the reason that i try & drive to s even 56mph, which is about 25oorpm on my vehicle. |

So glad I looked at this thread, Just did a trip from Suffolk Coast up to Leicester towing a late eighties 2 berth Bailey so not the lightest.
Not hanging around I matched the trucks doing 56 (passing the ones doing 52) and on occasion hitting 70 to pass a convoy when fed up with the logo on the back. 164 miles total starting with full tank and refueling again at destination took £50 at £1.49. My maths arrived at 22 mpg. Horrendous at today's prices so I won't be going far with the van again. The BMW K100RS can go the distance with a tent strapped to the back. |
