Default Patrol clutch & many other bits

Having now sorted my injector pump, now is the time to sort my worn out clutch amongst other things, will try and take pics as I go but you know how it is with cameras and greasy hands etc, see you tomorrow, Rick

20% stronger springs all round
aggressive off road tyres on wheels so just swap.
Aim to get stuck and be completely self sufficient in extraction, love getting muddy, 2ft deep is good but rare.

Pretty poor day I am afraid, gear levers, exhaust, prop shafts, bell housing bolts, starter all came off without problem, this was about 2.30 so thought I would have the clutch out today, but not having any of it, the 8 bolts that secure the X member to the chassis have stupidly overlong bolts the 4 outside ones can be got at to spray with penetrating oil but the ones inside the chassis cannot, well on my motor at least as it is full of hard dry mud, so set too with an impact wrench and plenty of oil, stopped for a bite around 5 then carried on, got the last one out at 9pm what a marathon, the last one I had to resort to drilling the chassis in order to apply oil or it would have sheared, the only pic I took was of one of the offending bolts, each one has more than 25mm of thread exposed to go rusty, clutch out tomorrow, Rick

Those bolts are a bugger to get out. When I replaced my chassis, every bolt on the “new” chassis had sheared off. Had to drill and tap new holes. Fortunately, they were easy to remove this time.

There is always something with the Patrol. You think that you are making good progress and then it throws a spanner in the works.
