jokes!
I think i need your opinions on this one please!.
I am concerned about the joke and gags section. I know the world can be a very serious place and with all the grim things in life makes bad reading, But can i have feedback on this as i just logged in as a guest and 3 out of the last 5 posts that can be seen by guests were jokes, Is this what prospective members are hoping to see when they hit the clubs home page. Are they looking for us for advice or a good laugh?. I have at the moment altered it so that guests cannot see the jokes forum. Please let me know what you feel about this. (I am looking at this from both ways). Mav. |

Thanks for the reply Jace.
I want to make sure we are coming over as the club to be part of. I am the one that has to think from every angle as most will sit and watch and not say how they feel or what they want. Thanks, Mav. |

I like the jokes part of the forum as it's one part that anyone can post in & help wash away the stress of our motors breaking. I also understand where you are coming from Mav & perhaps blocking that part from guests may be a good thing depending on the image of the club people want to put across. Perhaps a quick poll on the subject may help to get members views on this.

Well in my very humble opinion I think we should hide the jokes away until said persons become members,   make things like gallery and videos open to prospective members would be good.
Probably going to get shouted down on this one   :| |

The jokes section is good but i feel that it probably should be hidden from guests until they are full members. Most guests will probably be looking for help or advice for their motors hence coming on to the site in the 1st place before they see the jokes and more lighthearted side of the club.
What about a poll on the homepage? |

I alos think the jokes are pretty good but I agree with mav to a certain extent that so many individual postings for jokes may be a bit too much? what about adding each new joke as an extra to a thread rather than a thread in its own right?
I am a bit concerned about the whole gallery being open to non members as there are photos of peoples kids etc and there are some weirdo's out there! could just the off road photos be open to non members? |

view point ~jokes.
hi mav .
i think the jokes are ok .as long as they remain clean`ish. with profanities removed . are the jokes removed after so long to free up space . if you are a prospective member seeing a load of jokes would not get me to join . people come here for help and advice. so give them an insite into what the club is about. photos of greenlaning days, tecnical headings ,mechanical, electrical, ect. plus TITLES of available downloads. discounts to club members does the total number of members appear. |

Hi again,
You know, I was a bit worried about the first post saying that i was concerned, But from all your feedback it looks as if i was thinking along the right lines. People that have not joined yet don’t know how much help we have to offer and as a guest they only get to see the home page and limited access. Once they come in there happy they did, its just getting them to take that step. Thanks again to you that have replied and those that have not said anything please say what you are thinking. Thanks, Mav. |

i personally think that guests should be able to see the web site but not be able to access the content. after all what do we (members) pay our ten pounds for. guests would be able to see the main forums page but not be able to see the content of the posts.
p.s. appologies if this is what already happens. |
