I think that it is the MTPLM that really counts, but I think that your Maverick will be good to tow just about any 'normal' uk built caravan out there.
I tow a 23 foot Bailey weghing in at 1500kg without any issues at all with my T2, which I believe is good to tow around 2800kg Hope this helps Alan |

have a look here
You might need to put your vehicle in as a Nissan Terrano though. Simple answer... should p*ss it! Mondeo's and Vectras etc can tow more then that! My caravans MTPLM is 1400kgs, and I tow that with a Zafira |

I'm getting ready to tow the boat again, it is 23 feet long and the trailer including the boat is just over 26 feet (8.0metres) long, the trailer has twin axles, and the gross weight of the boat and trailer is just under two tonnes.
Overall height is approx 10 feet (3m)to the top of the windscreen, I only have the 2.7 TD but it is the long wheel base, and it tows like a dart, dead straight. So at just under 2 tonnes it is about the same as the Maverick with driver... So you shouldn't have a problem with your combination. Best regards, Rustic

The max you can legally tow is listed in your handbook. For my old lwb I seem to recall that was somewhere around 2 1/2 tonnes. My current motor can tow around 3 1/2 tonnes. Hard pushed to find a laden tourer exceeding that !!!!!!!! Point Im making is its highly unlikely youll be exceeding any limits whatever your 'van , more what your comfortable with plus a bit of common sense |

I brought Briggies motor back from Brighouse on a Brian James four wheel trailer, My T2 plus trailer 2480 kg, Briggies Mistral around 2000 kg, plus another engine in the boot of mine, total well over 4500 kg, steady as a rock all the way and I was hitting 70 plus for many parts of the way, the only time it started to wag (and I mean barely detectable) was in the nearside lane rutting on a section of the M40 (I think) and I was hitting 60 then, best tow motor I have ever had, the only downside is it is 2.4 petrol, torque is great but fuel economy? forget it, but it does what I want it to do, nothing more to say, Rick

sounds interesting Paul, what you getting.
cant see the swb being much differentto long wheel base other than nearside/kerb weight being lower which will lower the 85% etc. these ratios arent law as daved says but watch out as some insurers have adopted them as have some of breakdown/ recovery services. bizarre rally as on swb the power to weight ratio of truck itself will be higher. funny if you look at landies that dont see many 90s towing big vans, seems to be preserve of 110s, discos and rangeys yet most farmers run 90 pickups and happily tow big ifor williams cattle trailers at much higher mams. mind these will likely not go as far or present same sail effect on an open motorway as as relatively lightweight twin axle tin tent. horses for courses maybe, also digressing as in reality the difference betwen a swb and lwb t2 is far less.

well, i would tow it but then again i tow all sorts all the time including cattle/sheep trailers and large twin axel caravans with mine.
A swb t2's strong points when towing are manouverability especialy when reversing and when in fields etc. in a straight line on tarmac, get a transit van if you want a stable tow |
