Default Help needed please.

Hi all,
I need a crankshaft sensor for my 1997 Maverick.
I have contacted Ford a nice man whistled throught his teeth and then said "its gone cost around £150".
I tried Nissan because everyone keeps telling me its the same engine ,the guy there was as helpful as a chocolate fire guard telling me I needed to provide my registration so I told him,he was very quick I was only on hold 5 minuets,he then said my car was a Ford Maverick( told you he was quick I told him it was a ford in the first ten seconds of speaking to him) and he politely told me that he was a Nissan dealer to which I replied "I know but its the same engine" his reply" I cant do a price search without a reg" so use mine he cant its a Ford so I politely said thanks and hung up.
So please can anybody tell me where I can get one thats not going to cost me a fortune before my husband bans me from driving it in case I do some damage.

Good idea jst be careful though as special order parts which it may be (dont know until you ask of course ) have to be paid for in advance and are non refundable @ Evans Halshaw, our local.

Good point, but the drivetrain is pure Nissan.....only a few badges and the trim/grille were 'Forded' as far as I know...

Just one point though; how do you know you need a crankshaft sensor anyway?

If its from a fault code it might be that the fix is actually something else - often the case, so see if someone like Toolbox happens along to advise.....or PM him...before you spend silly money...

For TBs benefit, what problems/symptoms are you getting?

hi
i checked with our parts dept today there are 2 different senors that fit the mav but they are on a year change.
1st sensor build date from 15/5/96 to 5/10/97 £141.80+vat part number 1959192 available from factory,
2nd sensor build date from 15/10/97 to 15/3/98 £79.86+vat part number 1959193 back orderd from factory but awaiting receival,
hope this is of some help, so just go down to your ford dealer and give him the part numbers but price may be different.
cheers eboy.

Bit the bullet and went to Ford £160.00 for the sensor, fitted it and the problem has gone away.
