Default newbe questions!

Hi

Some basic newbe questions here:

1. What is the difference between automatic and manual hubs?
2. When switching between 2wd 4 wd and 4wd low does this have to be done stationary? On the base we have 2 disco’s and if you engage the 4wd low/difflock you have to reverse to get it to disengage if you have driven far ish and turned?
3. Ref the new tax thread if your car produces over the 225 grm emissions then you will pay more tax? Pretty crap, when we pay more for fuel and road tax etc.

Morning and Welcome Aboard.

Auto hubs mean you just engage 4wd and they self engage when the front drive shafts turn. It's recommended to reverse a few feet after 4wd is disengaged to unlock the hubs but this can be done when it's safe rather than that minute.
Manual hubs mean you have to get out of the car and turn a knob on each hub to engage them.
You can change between 2wd and 4wd H whilst moving but only at lower speeds, you must stop to engage 4wd Low. There full instructions in the downloads section (Quick Links and then Downloads).
From the look of the original post it looks like cars registered after a certain date in 2006 pay the extra, if your's is an older motor then you'll be fine.

Yep there is a warning light with a symbol (green) in the speedo cluster. BTW Loads of threads on auto lockers too.
