Question How much per mile does yours cost ?

I have for many years kept XL type spreadsheets to record my vehicle running cost. (Yes I'm a Sado)

I include depreciation each year, all maintenance, VEL & Insurance plus of course fuel used.

One interesting thing I have noticed is that as my mileage comes down this leads to an increase in overall cost per mile as the "fixed costs" remain the same.

For our WJ Jeep the cost per mile over 4 years has averaged 51 pence per mile. This includes items such as Crash Cams etc.

I used to do this for my works van. A big merc Sprinter.

Kept track of everything from the initial cost of the van to the tyres, services, fuel... Anything spent on the van like interior shelving.

The only thing I didn't take into account was depreciation.

Over its life, I pegged it at 28p per mile.

Exclamation For Comparison our BMW Mini Cooper over 7 years was....

Our Mini between Jan 2006- Dec 2012 averaged 61 pence per mile.

The reason for that is it only did an average of about 5k miles a year as against the Jeeps 10k plus.

I did a quick calculation on the smoking mess of my Jensen Interceptor after it blew a core plug out, cooked the oil and needed smothering to stop it due to pre ignition; £50 a mile.
