I got my Christmas Pressie 1 day early.
Today we picked up my Christmas present... Actually I think it might be my Christmas pressie for many years to come...
I have to say that my cheeks ache from all the grinning I have been doing today... When I had My V70, it was a great car, full of Gadgets, but this one is almost futuristic with all the things it does... Mind you, it will take me about a week to read the manual, it is an inch thick, and all in English, then there is a second one, the same size for the audio system!! |

Fiat Power Train ?

Cheaper VEL band might be due to cleaner engine, if it is a Fiat Engine then that might mean no issues with the induction control units that MB set into the V of the block. |

I drove a slightly older one, a Grand Cherokee Overland. I found it a very comfortable car but felt for RHD they decided the handbrake could stay LHD. I hope you like the radio and navigation system that's fitted if it's all in one, we had lots of hassle fitting a replacement as it's integrated into the CAN bus system. Being a cheapskate he bought an all singing and dancing replacement from a car boot sale and we eventually had it all working, even a reversing camera. Only one thing we never fixed was the dashboard would default to German language every time you started the car!

The built in system is by Alpine, and I have to say, not only does it sound fantastic, there are speakers everywhere, and a 10inch Base in the boot, but is so intuitive to use. It has voice recognition for the whole system, Navigation, Phone, Radio and CD, plus Steering wheel controls, and the touch screen as well. Unless something goes wrong, I can not see any reason to change it, so hopefully will not hit those issues. The only thing that is a bit disconcerting is, not only does it have a reversing camera, but it has proximity sensors all around it, so when it pings, you have to look at the dash board to see where it thinks you are too close. The front ones work when driving as well, so the other day, over at Thurrock, we had some moron decide the arrows that help everyone drive round the car park the same way, did not apply to him, and my car started Pinging, as it decided he was too close. |

Looked at a couple of Overlands, but the suede on the seats seems to wear very prematurely, looking very scruffy. Preferred the look of the leather on the Limited. I am actually RTFM'ing at the moment, keep finding extra features. Just discovered the rear glass on the boot can be opened separately like the T1 had.
At this rate we will have to ask Bat21 to add a Jeep section to the forum for all us that like it here... lol |
