Default Strumpshaw Steam Rally.

Hi guys. Anyone going to this or are there already? The missus fancied a day with me all to herself. Packed the kids off to their nans for the weekend and told me I could choose where to go..... :rolleyes
Haven't been there since I was a kid so we're going tomorrow. Yes she does know.
Apparently if it rains the car park (field) gets sloppy. I don't usually ask for rain but maybe tomorrow at about 3pm it could p down.

Wheres Strumpshaw? Our kids grew up just about being dragged to the rallys, my lads used to help run one of the organs.

It's just east of Norwich off the A47. Only 30mins for me.
My dad has an old stationary engine, a Fairbanks Morse, that he's had since he was a kid and we used to take it to the rally and sit and watch it chug chug chuger all day long....

Currently sitting in our caravan in the public camping field.

Lovely little show we go to every year.

Keep an eye out for a couple walking a ferret or two and come and say hi.

I will keep an eye out. Doubt if there'll be many people walking ferrets

Funny you should say that, we went on one stand and were told a lady had been on a bit earlier with a big Albino, but we have not bumped into her yet.

At Strumshaw fen, not far away, there are often Bitterns nesting, or looking for a mate.
The male call is a boom... it sounds like someone blowing across the top of a beer bottle, only much louder.
So if you are woken in the early hours, thinking it could be a fog horn, or your partner... then it could be the Bittern.
Over the years we have heard them on the Broads, at Barton Broad, Hickling, and Ranworth, once heard, never forgotten.

We can't hear anything over the peacocks. Even the ferrets are threatening to eat them. Lol

Well we got rain! Got there at 10 and rain met us there a couple of hours later. Had an enjoyable day wandering round. Plenty of oily smoky engines, plenty of food and ale and now home with my feet up.
Didn't spot any ferrets though...
