Default I've just been rumbled by the wife...

Today, my wife decided that it was time to clean the oven... a task that I told her, used to take me all day when she used to work...

After giving her a brief instruction on what to do, she now realises that there is a lot of waiting around.... like in 2 hours, do this, then that and repeat this in 2 hours etc...
Overall the start of the process was done in 10 minutes...

She said, of course it won't be as good as when you would have done it...
Well of course, you have to agree with your wife sometimes, especially when your reputation is on the line.

Drat... I am loosing brownie points, what else will she find out about, I have another three weeks with my arm in a sling...

I used to take all day to clean the bathrooms, utility and down stairs cloakroom...

Any advice guys ?

You can refer to Cyril Parkinson, back in 1955 he invented "Parkinson's Law".
"work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion"...

That is so true...
If I only have a few hours to do a task.... that's it job done...
But if I say start an oil change... the wheel is off, out comes the wire brush.... then the waxoyl... now all the tools are out... might as well do the other side...

Any task that we do as men always takes twice as long as the other half. It's a simple scientific fact that we take longer on a task because we want to make sure that it's done properly......enough of the b&*€£$ks, your screwed. Best get yourself down to the local jewellers or off licence. Good luck

I have been home alone for the past four months, while my Mrs has been in the UK decorating her parent new flat , looking after our grand son and scouting locations for when we comeback this year. She arrives back one week today so I have got 7 days to rid the house of any sign of slobishnes, do a complete deep clean, sort out the garden, finish pointing the front wall(somthing I said I would do while she was away),bath the dogs, do some shopping, and go to work! MERDE!!!

When my Missus used to work in London and commute back to Derby for the weekends I would have this plan about all the jobs I would do on my mid week rest days.

What I would actually do is have beers in the garden, catch up on some Sci-Fi on the TV then about two hours before she was due home on the Friday blitz the house clean and come up with reasons for not having done some decorating. e.g. not sure about this colour etc.

The more time you have on your hands the less time there is to do stuff with the exception of bloke stuff. Its something to do with time management and multi-tasking. Even though I am male I have discovered I can operate the remote, drink lager and hoover at the same time. lol

Done that, and the darks with the whites in the washing machine lol...
Nice boil wash for the woollens...

Sorted...

Mind you it works both ways, imagine if I asked my wife to wash my Mav... she might drop the sponge, pick up some grit... and continue to wash the car...

No.. in our house, there are Mens jobs and womens jobs like... who gets the short straw when the drains are blocked.

Actually we do have a good working relationship in our house, like I stack the dishwasher, as I can get 50% more in than her, which, since I am tight... means lower fuel bills, it's a challenge, but I prefer her to empty it.

A friend if mine made a great suggestion once... Get two dishwashers, label up the clean one, source all your clean dishes from that, so no putting away... hmmm... swap over the labels when the dishwasher has finished...that works for me..

Wink Work balance between Hubs & Wivs

When we were first married in 1978 I said I would always do the dishes, mow the lawns do the gardening and any decorating except gloss painting.

I will rub down the woodwork and undercoat but no glossing because however good it would look she would always find a run.

Within two years I had purchased a dishwasher and will fill and empty it bcause I know how to load it for optimum everything.

I slabbed and membraned most of the garden with some nice slate chippings and had built a pond.

I would iron my work shirts only as the trousers & tunic were cleaned foc at work.
I still have no idea how to operate the washing machine or what programme to wash what in. I mean how do you know its woolen or not colour fast until its shrunk or run ?

I was raised in a Victorian household and my Mum raised the kids, kept house and did the washing and feeding. There was no such thing as being sexist back then a bloke worked hard, went to the Pub on the way home from work to unwind, had his Dinner waiting, watched TV and went to bed. Exception was always Christmas Day when the menfolk would do the dishes etc.

Okay so over the last 40 years we have been ground down by the likes of Germaine Greer and the PC crowd so now I have to do my bit with pretend cheer.

But things aint what they used to be even many women will admit they did not really want equality as it stands today.

Our house is a coalition but when it comes to all the Major decisions guess who is expected to decide?

On a cheery note the Jeep is winning her over !
