Where is peak torque
Afternoon, I have been driving the Maverick for a week or so now and just had a query. On my drive to work I travel along the A614 from Nottingham to Worksop, it's slightly hilly in places but 50 mph the whole way. On all the hills she doesn't have enough power to maintain speed and I have to drop into 4th at times. She pulls smoothly with no missing or juddering, so my query is, is 50 mph just below the torque curve, hence lack of power.
Thanks in advance |

Max torque is at 1800-2000rmp IIRC my old T2 used to struggle badly on hills but once changed the MAF it flew up them

Yes I think it sounds like a dying maf sensor. I would replace it, don't buy a cheapie as we had a few problems with those

Bosch or Zexell pump, the mafs are different, you can clean the Zexell one (Hitachi) but not the bosch, also have you checked the mini filter in the pump banjo? I have Zexell and will be doing mine tomorrow, Rick

before you write off your MAF have you tested it
a simple test is disconnect it and see if it makes a difference, on my terrano when disconnected the revs dont go above 2000ish rpm, if this happens then the maf is doing something things to check 1..clean the maf, a dirty maf can cause problems 2..check all the duct pipework betweeen the maf and the turbo, if any air is being dragged in after the maf this can confuse the engine managent, if you dont know what MAF does it measures the amount of air going into the engine so any extras can confuse the engine 3.. checking the output of the MAF with a voltmeter is easy to do and the information is easy to find it may still turn out to be the MAF but everything above is free to check and you don't want to spend out on MAF and find out the expensive way cos if the the problem is still there all you managed to proove was that your old MAF was ok |
