yes i have , it was a nightnare !!!

i had a quad bike and lots of tools welders etc nicked out of the garage a few years ago
i also had no receipts

house insurance thought i was a mechanic working from home because of the amount of tools i had

bike was insured for 2 grand ,insurance said it was only worth 700,
but it was tuned and had loads of extras on it (thats why i insured it for 2 grand)
police didn`t want to know,
i ended up ended up sending pictures of the bike to them and it took about 6 months with letters and phone calls, bought i fought them and ended up with 1500
got sorted in the but it was hard work,
see if you`ve got any pictures of the stuff you had nicked and show them to your insurance company
good luck

I was insured with one of the big companies. the co operative.
I paid for a good policy including accidental damage.
I dropped my camera. it was mine it was an accident and it was less than 200 quid.

apparently I wasn't insured for personel items. wtf isn't a personel item?

I cancelled my policy and then got burgled. for 7k
I had cash (unaccountable) jewellery (no recipts) try living in a council house and claiming for a watch worth 1k.
Ive snow got a piece of paper in my files with the cheapest insurance going.
is it worth owt
ive got 5 ridge tiles blown off. ive not phoned them yet. if its 100 quid excess.
id rather give some one 100 quid cash in hand to do it,

Hassle your insurance company because at that level they shouldn't be giving you grief. My policy only requires details of individual items worth OVER a grand . Obviously easier with receipts but not essential. As above, any pics will help. Have you got bank statements with the payments shown or even similar amounts you could use
A call to the insurance ombudsman is always worth a whirl if your insurance company want to play hard.

Thumbs down Receipts for insurance claims

We had a similar problem when we were burgled many years ago especially with the wife's Jewellery.

In the end we produced some photographs and obtained quotes for replacement similar items from Samuels who were most helpful.

Will never Insure with Direct Line again as at that time they did not employ their own loss adjusters and they seemed to think we were exaggerating the claims.

When it came to renewal time they imposed terms and conditions that were crazy.
