speedo readings
Does anybody know how far out the speedo reads
My reason for asking is i got a speeding ticket in the post today saying i was clocked doing 47 in 40 zone saw the van at the time and thought i was in a 50zone so i would have been doing just under 50 can remember telling the kids to smile for the camera Just suprised its come in at 47mph when i thought the speedos read quite a bit out |

Run a GPS to get a more accurate speed reading, mines about 10% or thereabouts, either that or Inverness has moved further north since the last time I went there!
It'll depend on a number of things including how big the outside circumference of your tyres are. |

Mine reads about 10% fast as well compared with the GPS reading of my Talex - it's on standard wheels & tyres.

Mine is the same, but strangely, distances are fairly accurate.
Thought they were required by law to be accurate within +10%-0%, which makes this (& my previous Frontera) illegal: ie. 33mph @ 30 NOT 36 which is +20%!! This IS on 1/3 worn original tyres! Though it does get more accurate with speed, eg. 64 @ true 60mph (perhaps it reads true @ 100+?). This explains why I've gone through speed traps several times & got away with it, & why everyone was passing me & sometimes giving me dirty looks LOL. At least it reads zero when I'm standing still which my Frontera didn't always manage to do LOL (sometimes showed 30 or more!). Now I ALWAYS have the satnav on: just try focussing on 36mph when there are no markings & 30mph is a dark red line, it takes more than the quick glance I'm willing to give it. |

Funny thing is, I have 2 sat nav's and they both read different speeds to each other in the same vehicle
