New Member, West Midlands, wants some advice :)
Hi Guys
It's my first post here, I decided to sign up as after a search of the internet this seemed to be the best Maverick forum I could find I don't actually own a Maverick yet but have been looking into them and have decided that I want a 2.7TD with the facelift in Grey SWB, I've found one in the area that I like and am going to look at it the weekend with the intention to buy it but was after a little advice first. I just wanted to know if there was anything I should pay particular attention to when checking it out as I've never personally owned a 4x4 before apart from tinkering with my dads Range Rovers and his V8 Defender off road toy. If I do bring it home on Saturday I will definatley be investing in a full membership as the forum has already given me some great ideas in terms of what I want to do with it. I want to modify it slightly but not over the top ie Bull Bar with spots, light bar on the roof, CB Radio with a nice big aerial and maybe a raiser kit depending on what I plan on doing. I've been a member of many car forums before and had Ford's since I was 17, although I'm only 21 please don't automatically tarnish me as some chavvy boy racer type, I'm actually a really nice guy who works as an IT Technician for a Water Company, I'd rather go out shooting on a friday night that go drinking with friends and listen to BBCR4 lol, make of me what you want from that Anyways, that was my introduction, and help would be appreciated I look forward to my stay here Thanks Banshee |

Cheers mate, just wanted some general advice on faults that are common to 96' Maverick's so I know I'm not being sold a duff.
Another question I've just thought of is how can I tell if this truck has the later chain driven 2.7TD engine as opposed to the earlier belt driven |

Hi mate
Neither hehe, just do a bit of bunny bashing with a .22 Cometa 300, great fun and helps keep my local gold course in check as the rabbits cause some serious damage to the point where they have had the course subside I see your a Linux user too, I've started to self teach myself on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS recently that I've installed on an old 1.7GHz Centrion IBM Thinkpad I had spare in the shed, just another skill to add to the CV at the end of the day |

ah thats odd :s, I was told the earlier one was belt driven and the later one which was revamped for more BHP and fuel efficiency was driven by a chain it's a springer mate, a lot of people turn their noses up at springers but I'm accurate to just over 40 yards and I love the thrill of stalking the rabbits and getting close enough for a kill |
