welcome to the best forum on the net anyway , run by owners who actually own the vehicles , and sometimes have a rather eclectic sense of humour

welcome to the club, your car is actually a terrano wearing a ford badge but we don't mind lol as briggy said best club there is pay the £10 subs and you will save more than that in advice alone, as for keeping it just as a road car

Welcome to the club. This is a very good fourm. It's helped me when I've had problems with my terrano and everyone is so friendly and kind. I'm not too sure on things to look out for on mavericks and terrano's other than rot and rust underneath. But I bet someone will tell you things to look for. Good luck

welcome to the club mate!
get a torch, and get your head into that engien bay. The oil filter is on the right side as you look at the engine, down deep. check to see how old it looks, does it look to be leaking etc. Check the oil level regular for now, and check the smoke, if any, coming out of the exhaust. How does it sound when idling? what RPM does it idle at (should be around 750 rpm and sound a bit like an old sewing machine!) as for what to look out for: fuel filter - check for tightness, check the drain plug underneath and check the pipes. MAF - check what sort you have, bosh or hitachi, Hitachi can be cleaned. Air Filter - check and see how dirty it is, if old, replace. oil, but you know that already! if unsure, get the LSD and gear oil done, use correct LSD. other than that, id say everything else is pretty much the same as any other car. These are very tough machines, and like most japanese vehicles, its the oils you need to take care of. enjoy your Maverick, and dont be afraid of those off road tracks! |

ha ha ha maf???lsd?? are they legal? there is no oil on the floor, anywhere and only smoke there is.when you first start the engine just a single puff of black smoke thats so slight its easily missed.it idles where you said and very smooth.there is oil on the engine at the back, middle but i wiped it and no more was there after a short run. i have been on my back on th floor today and found pretty much no rus at all. when driving with the window down it does sound like a grass hopper/cricket is running along next to you so i suspect a wheel bearing looking tommorow and went 100 miles his evening so will check oil again too |

the grasshopper ticking noise could well be bent/damaged viscous fan blades catching on something

Hello All
Hi there,
Names Kev, live in-between Bristol and Bath, just bought a 2003 Terrano 2.7 tdi swb to off road, carry fishing kit and go shooting in. Built lots of 4x4's but got to say the Terrano is great, already thinking about molding and hoping to get it muddy. Great friendly forum and paying £10 is well worth it. |
