Question m.o.t. question

i was just going to frame my brand spanking new mot certificate ( with no advisories ) when i noticed that the tester had put the odometer reading down as miles ...... its actually km ..... is that a problem invalidating the certificate ? , and what can i do about it ?

I suppose technically its an error, cant see it invalidating anything though because the info doesnt really go anywhere, they dont even notice if you replace your old speedo with a new one showing completely different mileage

i had a mot cert that had been laminated and when it was produced for tax, the cashier refused to accept it, strange, so i went to another p/o no problem at all, there must of been a reason why it was declined i suppose.

im not gonna frame the original , ive scanned and printed a copy , but im wondering if its void cos of the incorrect odometer reading ? ..... guess i worry too much

I think if there was a query that the numbers matter, miles/km minor detail after all your odometer still says km, Rick

I had the same issue its alternated between MoT tests over the last 4 years some Km some miles all in the VOSA online records. The important thing is continuity of the numbers themselves. Lets be honest on a vehicle as old as ours its all a bit academic its actual condition that matters.

Not relevant to the certificate validity as you can be prosecuted for having an unroadworthy vehicle on the day you drive home from the testing station ! Most important thing is the chassis number & date on the certificate anything else is cosmetic so as to speak.

thanks for all your advice , im a bit scared of taking the certificate back in case the tester changes his mind ... as long as its ok and i can plead ignorance ( or perhaps stupidity might be better ) should i get stopped and questioned about it

Go back and see them Pete, they can't change their mind, and it'll make them a bit more careful with the next car.

I agree, if it concerns you just go and check with the MOT station, better to get it sorted than to worry about it.

You can check this MOT and the vehicles MOT history on line if you search for the web site, I have a link somewhere

You sound so pleased as if you didn't expect it, does this mean if they pass yours they will pass any thing, or is it that now that you have sorted out all the issues you have a brilliant car?

I had an advisory on the Picasso, it was the nearside track rod end, due to play.
I changed it the other day £5, and there was no play, but the seal was damaged.
Hmm.... How could that have happened......
