View Full Version : kingpin tyres
hi,does anyone use or have used kingpin tyres on there motors?,the reason i ask is that i need new tyres as most of my friends live on farms/in farmhouses and this time of the year the tracks upto their houses can be a little tricky as i found out this morning when i just managed to get up to see one of them.i had mud tyres on my maverick and they coped admirably but the terrano only has a/t`s on so have been trawling the net and found kingpin amazon at £39.85 each, the tread pattern looks very good and they also state that they cope well on the tarmac.
sorry for the long winded post,
paul.
in need of some new rubber also,do ya av a link to these tyres

if you need more info knigpin have their own web site they are in WEM shropshire.
I tried ordering from them when colway went bump but they werent very rreliable and I ended up not bothering as they never got back to me :(
I beleive they sufered as a reslut of colways colapse as they relied on them for processed casings for their tyres.
I also heard they were in talks to take over part of colways buisiness so maybe good news for the future.

Have had king pins in the past 175/70/13 and they've been impossible to balance due to being misshappen. Tyre dealer tried to blame the rims but I got them to take tyre of and spin the rim up on its own, was almost spot on.
Colway has ben sold to Poland, all the machinery and the name, so no more Colway in the UK, we might get the tyres back and due to cheaper costs over there they could be about the same price I suppose but don't hold your breath. Have a look HERE (http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/business/news/display.var.1987531.0.polish_firm_completes_buyout _of_tyre_maker.php)
I have 235. 75. 15. bfgoodridge land terrain tyres on my terrano, they are an m+s tyre They have a good strong tread but not as knobbly as a/ts. They ride good on road and have had no trouble pulling caravan off mud and very wet flooded grass. You can see them at 4x4tyres.com all though I got them through my local guy for £52 each fitted +vat ....bri
thanks for the reply`s,got my info from here if it`s of any use to anyone.
