View Full Version : Is it me !!!!!!
Well have been going mad all weekend !!(no comments there Plank lol)
I went to a Council meeting last week, when I arrived I was asked would I like a drink, I replied a black coffee. I got the biggest bollocking going, I was told that it was racist, I should of asked for a coffee with no milk.
Is it me, or is the country going down the pan fast.
BALLS.
its a black coffee.
so, do you want a white iphone, or a black one?
do you want a black car, or a green one?
are you a black belt at karate, or a white one?
so, how does the colour of coffee, become even remotely racist? ok, so coffee is brown, but never in the history of england have i heard the term black coffee coming from some distant racist peice of history relating to slavery or what ever. Its just a term, the coffee is dark, and as the English language consists of short, easy to under stand sentences, black coffee is used to describe it.
the word black is not racist out of context.
im waffling....
No you are not, you are saying just what I was thinking, I am of the opinion that the lunatics are running the asylum !!!, and I agree black is a colour .
i tell you what, ima big softie, but if someone bollocked me and called me racist for ordering a black coffee, id go mad at that person. i mean, what an insult to suggest to someone they are racist for ordering a black coffee? we live in a world where folk dont have time to say "oh yes, id delight in a cup of coffee, minus the milk if you please but one lump of sugar (white) would be simply marvelous", no, we live in a busy world where you say black coffee please, no sugar.
or you say "chuff me, its pitch black out there" not "well I never, there appears to be a much lower light level in the night ski tonight dear"
oh please....we paid that person to bollock you!
ha ha ha, i rest my case. cant even ask for a cup of black coffee in your own country.:augie
I agree, the one that gave me the bollocking was a black guy, opps!! did I say BLACK ! I meant a person with no milk .

what a load of pants, the accepted and politicaly correct term for a a black person is 'black' as in the man you are looking for is black, my new neighbours are black. Will smith is black etc.
Is this a wind up?
why do we do this?

ok, so, did he explain in detail why it was racists? did he list the historical facts leading to the present day that now make black coffee racist? Did he say what colour he sees himself as?did he consider to you, if a white coffee can be racist?
ahhh...its all balls. seriously, youll go out to buy yourself a nice new car, and you want a black one, except when you ask for a black one you have to say "id like a car please" what colour sir? " absence of light is my preferred choice"

getting dragged into some abstract rant about soemthing that is a fraction off indirect rascism and that has been diesigned to prompt people to think the worst. I'm sure it's just a wind up, no one made that comment, at a none exsistant meeting, like the Danish muslim thing. :( how sad.
it's all down to the PC brigade, and there's a few on here, this is happening all over the country and people turn a blind eye to it, when someone does have the guts to stand up for themselves, they are called racist. :nenau

spot on load of crap the pc terms are black white etc, they are there on back of government forms to state ethnic origin, etc.
typically saying coloureds that will wind folks up as more throw back to segregation
in the US.
other frown words are half cast, preferred replacement mixed race or dual heritage.
hey and i do know i was best man to my mate of black caribean stock, born in england
married a mixed race chineese/'english' bride. their kids are our god children and vice
versa.
think some anti anti discrimination types started they shite about can ' have black
boards / coffee etc etc. probably paid by some lunny left council in thatchers day
to wind us all up.
no normal person of any skin colour pigment leve would get upset.
lets face it its only when you start sterotyping, and prefixing wiht bloody or stronger
terms that it becomes racist.
good nignt
..., it only represents the views of one man. As Plank says these exagerations are used Daily Mail style to stir up the whole issue, to keep the topic going. You'd need to query the motives of people who post this sort of innuendo.
I've been in hospital today and been looked after by a team which included Polish, Spanish, English and Pakistani (Muslim) staff. I'm very pleased they are here...
I can assure you that I am not in a habit of lieing, this incident did happen. My point by posting it that it just shows you that some people take PC a little too far,I am far from racist, and take offence to anyone that even suggest it,. To quote one of my black work mates, the guy that pulled me has a chip on his shoulder the size of an oak tree.

I apologise for assuming that, but your initial posting did give the impressiong this was your understandiong of the use of rthe term 'black' and that the country is 'going down the pan fast' because we can't call black coffe black anymore.
If it is a thread about one person who has no idea about such things and his making his own rules up as he goes along then it might have been better to start that way instead of imlying the whole countye was going down the pan when in fact this was just the opinion of one misguided person.
So how about, 'I met this right pillock lasst week, told me I couldn't order black coffee as it would be racist (coffeist lol), don't some people come out with some stupid things', what do you think?

For what its worth I do think that the nutters are taking over the asylum...
It seems to me that if you are English you cant say that youre English anymore, same goes for the Scots and the Welsh (to some degree). Yet EVERYONE who lives on this island is British... so whats the problem you may say. Well my gripe is that I read the papers and watch the telly and keep hearing "BUY BRITISH"
I go to the supermarket and I can buy Scottish potatoes Scottish Beef, welsh lamb, french wine, italian tomatoes, new zealand lamb, line caught norwegian cod,
Alaskan Salmon, German Bratwursts, but can I buy anything "english" NO
I can find BRITISH potatoes and BRITISH PORK AND LAMB but cant find "ENGLISH PORK" etc etc now when I was a kid you could buy English pork at the local butchers so why cant supermarkets label food "ENGLISH" but then again its all gone gaga now I am now of the opinion that we should take up Briggies offer and sit down with a digestive and weep in out tinted tea, I just hope briggie has STANDARD digestives as if they have a chocolate coating we are in the shite as the choice will be MILK OR DARK.
Think I will have a hob nob oh god that will upset the gays hihi Just a cuppa please pete as Im watching me waistline (oh shit upset the obese now )
See my point its all in the words and its time we stopped taking note of individual words and looked at the full context of the statement being made. Its all this PC crap that has ruined this country and its time we did as the french have done and said to the world yes, yes we will comply and then turned round and carried on doing what they want. Is this country still the best in the world, well alot of people are rushing to be here but are they coming for the right reasons??? I will leave that last thought with you....
Well I fell better now ......:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

i don't think it does mate, the only people who think PC has gone mad appear to be the people who say 'PC has gone mad' everyone else just gets on with things.
As i see, it and my profession is closely linked to these issues, all things PC including, sexuality, race, gender, ability etc have gone full circle and become more sensible by the day the bad old 'pc gone mad' days are a thing of the past.

Plank, and others. No I didnt miss devolution I witnessed it happening everytime I used the severn bridge, try this for a rip off especially if your a hgv driver, also may I suggest you go around Cardiff as I do nearly every week and you will see where your and mine and the welshmans tax paid is being spent ...
If your comment on people stating what to me is the obvious and that the only people moaning are the ones left in the darkages then pass me my club as Im stuck in the darkage, As for racist remarks I am totally against them thats why I cannot understand why it seems that every englishman is the victim of this daily whatever his colour happens to be. Whatever happened to being english and proud of it,it got lost that whats happened to it, somwhere around the late 80s early 90s. I do feel envious of our welsh cousins as they are proud of their country as they should be after all, but cannot understand why "johnny english" cant feel the same way without being branded a racist.it stinks and is full of pc crap... but thats just my view and Im sorry if it aint yours, Freespeech---- does it exist???? you tell me where you can actually talk to someone and express your views without living in fear of the pc brigade jumping up shouting foul. I remember when you had a certain doll type figure on a jar of jam that caused uproar, must say thou it was good jam lol.:D:D:D:D

that just it, things calming, things went extreme other way to conflict with institutionalised
'isms and yep fueled by daily mail at one side and the looney left quangos and councils
that blossomed under the overall far right in maggies era.
you will find that things arent or shouldnt be black listed, we grey list stuff now at work.
its where the colour is used in a negative context where it should be avoided.
guess black ice could be viewed as negative, dangerous etc, but isnt any more than
coffee scenario where the black refers to road surface / colour etc.
black boards aren negative, ok some might be green haha.
suspect this will run n run. unless offensive to the leg-challanged??

I agree with the comments about a lost sense of English and feeling we should be ashamed for the past, what's done is done, it's made the world what it is today and a lot of people have reaped the benefits.
If we have to grovel and apologise for the past I vote we start with getting the pope to apologise for the Romans invading and work forwards fomr there ;)
It's funny how i seem to have been branded as 'ultra PC' for pointing out that the correct term for a black person is black, and that the impresion you have of an over the top PC world is initself the issue not the term black.
so for the record Trevor McDonald is Black and i would assume happy and proud of the fact!
MontysMaverick
07-10-2010, 22:31
Plank, I would not say you are "ultra pc " at all what I would say is that most people in this country of ours (when I say that I mean England cause if we are honest a scot isnt bothered about a englishman or a welshman and a welshman feels the same as does the englishman about a scot,) it seems to be that we cannot use our natural everyday language, I agree Trevor Mc Donald is black but when we read in the papers that english is now being looked upon as the "premier"language in Europe then I have to ask myself if I cant say what I want without having to think about upsetting someone what chance has a european got, consider this--- A chap goes to a football match and asks to buy a seat,he pays for a seat and then the guy takes the ticket and asks the steward where his seat is the steward says "go to STAND 3 ROW 4""no no no Ive paid for a seat I dont want to stand" this actually happened to my mate whilst on holiday here from Greece. He always lists this as the "funny english" that we speak.:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

it would be idealistic to think this was acctuly the way it worked in circumstances such as those described regarding a polish cafe, however there are ways within British law that you can discriminate on any grounds, bu i'm not telling :augie
and it's not that i dont beleive the posting here, it's can we trust the source it came from? and racism may be a technical issue hee as being Polish isn't a race it is a nationality. I was thinking that maybe the person who originated the story had got hold of the wrong end of the stick?

This one was started by the Daily Mail back in the early 80's when they claimed that Harringay Council had banned the use of the term in the staff canteen and you had to ask for a coffee without milk as it was a racist remark to ask for a black coffee.
This was picked up by all the media and it became common canteen talk in the workplace. It was in fact based on zero fact and was thought up by a journalist to discredit the PC initiatives being brought in to address real discrimination in the workplace.
When I was in Police Training School in the 80's it was an often aired view by Trainee Police Officers. Theye were amazed that it was not based on any real initiative !
You were either being wound up or the person who had a go at you is far from being as smart and PC as he is making out to be.
