1mile away from us they have erected 5 w/ts. 125 m high 2nd highest in world.
the locals fought against them, but lost
They look very impressive and produce 9.5kw between them.
had a look on u tube and there is quite a lot of horror story`s.
has anyone else any experience of them.

Yeh but that was a test one. My mate works on the windmills and loves it.
They have auto switch off for big winds :D
We've got them near us and they're just awesome:thumbs
I'd far rather the odd blade hitting a sheep than radio active waste in our old coal mines:eek:

My Solar panels produce nearly that on a good day:thumbs
They're becoming more and more popular those wind genny's, I see they have them just off shore at Blackpool.
Jim
We have to do something to get energy for the future.:)
however solar pannels are much better and low impack on the invironment
they just cost more and take up more room on the earth so less land for us to enjoy If we all just cut down on our need of energy that would help:thumbs

Green is most defo in :D
Anybody got any cash to invest then do it green now. Get yourself a £25k turbine and expect to earn around 3500 to 4000 a year:sly
Voltaic panels on your roof and sell at 49p a unit "feed in rate":naughty

Hi jim:thumbs
up the road from us they are just in the process of replacing 14 smaller 25m turbines built in 1993 with 6 107m high, 2 megawatt (each) turbines.

Won't bore you with the scheme I bought mine through but it's not www.ashadegreener.co.uk. I own mine and they'll of paid for themselves in 6 years time and from then on I'm in 100% profit. First day I had my panels fitted the main meter didn't move until Teatime when the oven went on. We were all at home with telly's computers and stuff on. I have main meter, a generation meter, a bluetooth remote meter that gives all the stats and figures for the solar and a smart meter that tells us what we are currently using. Just having the smart meter alone opened our eyes and saved us money so I can't recommend those highly enough.

All very good but what was the startup cost, and what sort of inverter do you have? and what do you do with the power during the day that you do not use? if it is fed back into the grid I would like to know how?? and what was the cost of that bit of kit? I have solar produces about 600 watts in sunshine but too expensive, Rick

PM me your number Rick and I'll put you in touch with my mate who's a "green" energy guru.:sly
He'll go through your needs till you've had enough:lol
Anyone else too:cool:
There's a company at the moment that will fit solar panels on your roof free AND you get free electricity for ever BUT they get to keep the feedin taraiff:thumbs (about £12000 worth of kit)

In my humble opinion its time this country stopped messing about with these unreliable sources of enery eg. wind farms, wave energy and solar power etc. If we don't want find ourselves short of energy in the next few decades then we need to start a programme of building new nuclear stations just as France did and are doing. We can then stop kidding ourselves and stop buying energy from them and using our own.
Not the poular option, but the only one if we want to continue living a lifestyle surrounded by energy hungry time saving 'standard of living improving' appliances...
Regards
Alan
On the topic of "free" energy, I need a solar panel on the boat to charge an 85Ah leisure battery, from between 20W to 60 Watt output,
Can any one recommend one?

Not a popular idea I agree :o I think the trouble is this country is full of proper bloody lazy energy consumers.
Most too thick to realise they can help themselves and the planet. We dont want/need nuclear we do need education and bigger energy bills over a base level.
I fit kitchens and bathrooms and see how so many people live really wasteful lives.Classic is people open the window cause the house is too hot, but the c/h is still on:doh
Both my neighbours have had the central heating on all year:eek: WHY ? Ours been off since april and wont go on till november ish.
People shower in the morning then again at night ? WHY?
I find a bath for easter and christmas is fine (needed or not :lol)
Switch things off not stand by etc.
Got to go now feel a rant coming on :augie:D

If you want free Solar Panels check out this link http://www.ashadegreener.co.uk/
However this wasn't the scheme that I used. My local council are offering Interest free loans for Clean Energy Sources, it's a charge held against your house and not payable until you sell the house. So I own the panels and I also get the income from the Feed In Tarif.
My system is a 1.5Kw with a Sunny Boy Inverter (http://www.brightgreenenergy.co.uk/sunnyboy_inverters.asp). The cable from the inverter goes through an isolation switch, then a generation meter and then it's wired into a spare slot in the consumer unit (fuse box). The excess energy flows back through the cables and into the street and joins the grid that way. The main meter doesn't turn backwards as people think. We also have two seperate remote meters. One of them is a Bluetooth link to the inverter. This one gives and stores the amount of electric made, can be exported to an Excel spreadsheet. We also have a N Power Samrt Meter which is a simple wireless device that tells you how much electric your house is currently using. You can enter your tarif details in to both meters so that you can get some idea of your bill.
The Feed In Tarif we are on is great, we get paid to use our own free electric and paid to sell our excess. The unit charge for what we buy in from the grid is the same as normal price so it's not loaded to cost more. Don't know how they do it and I aint too bothered.
The panels are predicted to pay for themselves in approx 6 to 7 years time.
Hope that answers some questions.

The bit I am interested in is how your inverter is syncronised with the grid ( the sunny boy is not registered as acceptable to back feed into the grid as far as I am aware, very few if any are), the problem is syncronisation, example take two 3 kw alternators and try and parallel them together for 6 kw, one will have its windings reshaped, I fitted £250000.00 worth of panels to a council project roof, in the residents lounge is a big panel showing how many kw hours per day and how much is being fed back in to the grid, but there is no sync system so it is lies, and it will take 30 years to pay for itself let alone make a profit, assuming no repairs needed, but two years after installation two of the 6 inverters went down, I was only involved in order to get 35 mtrs by 7 mtrs of panel flat (on a roof that had a dip of 6 inches in the middle, I used lasers to get all the brackets level, I think there is a lot of misleading information being punted about, and to determin the wheres and whatfors of your system I would need a lot more info, regards Rick

Well I aint gonna get too deep with this. All I can say until I start getting my bills from the energy company is that all the signs are good so far. It makes me and my Mrs happy, they've got a long warranty, we don't plan on moving for a long time and when we do finally sell it'll be a good selling point.
Back on subject, I've noticed a few single Wind Turbines springing up in my area. One of em was spinning backwards yesterday, it was facing out of the wind and the blades wasn't half bending.

They say they are worn out, but still apparently ok to sell :doh, I think they are heading to Pakistan
