have you tried kicking it, and swearing at it? I always do, it doesn't fix it but makes me feel better!

This seems unusual as my experience with thos cheap 2 stroke gennys is pretty good. They generally start very well and run just as well. Might be worth taking it back to the shop and getting a fresh one.

I agree with Jim T they are usauly very reliable and will take some abuse, if it is still under warranty dont stress or dissocate your shoulder keep pulling it, just take it back.

Hi
I had the same thing with my genny, I found it was the petrol swith off/on took it off cleand it works great now. Found it by taking pipe off and switching fuel on no fuel came out .

sometimes when carb is drained of fuel the carb corrodes inside and when used again the bits of corrosion block the jets, hence the reason it starts when putting petrol straight in the inlet

Sounds like block jets or diaphragm in the carby, keep trying the pouring down the spark plug method to try and free up the blockage.
Perhaps a gentle blast of air down the fuel line.

clean out carb , it's done then.

Could be a stuck neadle jet on carb, drop bowl off and make sure float moves.

well ive been trying to get the geni to go since i last posted it seems like the bowl with the float in isent filling up but every think is clear ive had the float out and the shut of valve and blown down the pipe into the float houseing and its clear can only get it to go for a few seconds bye pouring fuel down the spark plug hole

must be restriction somewhere , petrol relies on gravity not pressure (blowing down pipe) can you blow in top of fuel tank and get air through to float chamber? if so try again with some fuel in tank.

Start at the tap and take the hose off and see if fuel runs out of the tap, if it does then put the hose back on and then take off at the carby in flow and see if fuel runs out. Work this step by step until you get to the bowl.
If the flow stops anywhere thats where the blockage.

Check the air breather into the tank to see if thats blocked.

Diaphragm sometimes stick.

good luck.

hi all i managed to get the generator to run tonight i stripped the float chamber removed the float then removed the fuel shut off needle and turned it around one end has a point and the other end is flat i had the pointed end away from the float now the pointed end sits on the float lever and the flat ene isup the hole dont no if this is right but it now runs regards

it is now fitted upside down , so there must be something wrong with the float/needle valve
