could have been a cylinder not engaging the brake as quick as the other side but did you notice a pot hole in the road as that could have caused it
lastly take more water with it :lol

Surely as you got home you had to brake to park up? what happened then? All be it factored down due to lower speed some symptom of knackered brakes would have shown up
Test drive on a dry flat surface required before worrying about car being knackered.
Also have a bimble back over the same road. Was it wet last night? Have a look for any sheen or discolouration on the road surface , open the window and have a sniff. could have been a spillage of any old product.
Also have a quick look see if there has been a spillage cleaned up by fire brigade or or council. The giveaway is they very rarely manage to shift all the sand out of the gutters and always park on grass verges leaving the obligatory marks.
We've got the infamous Seal Sands and Coal Lane roundabouts near us that a massive proportion of the regions hazardous goods and fuel are transported around.
You'd need to take more than your socks and shoes off to count number of times the giveaways listed above can be spotted there :thumb2
I have had this very occasionally but when i have tried to replicate it there has been no joy (or a lot of joy cos no repair bill):thumb2
i have put it down to oil or diesel on the road as Harlow maverick suggested.

i see youve not changed:clap
just sounds like you hit a slippy spot, Pete. its piss wet out there, your cars been sat in the rain all day, tyres would have been very wet.
your description is odd though. you say you came to a junction and as such braked, but SHOT OFF to the right, you saying you accelerated, or skidded??

it skidded very sharply to the right , but hasnt done it since
well, i think it was just that, a skid. must have been a bit of oil in the road, makes sense at a junction....
