Had a bad day today, prepping the car (Rover 400) all went well till last thing to do was kick the exhaust off, done no prob with reciprocating hack saw, started it up, ran like a bag of bones, (we left this one fuel injected cos they have baned our twin Honda carb setup and we have not got a spare Webber twin choke) guess the management system did not like the lack of back pressure, it was getting dark and I now had to put the exhaust back, finished well after dinner time, not impressed at all, but it is at least running better now, although the clutch is weak, so will have to be careful tomorrow, will try and get some pics for you all to see, bed now, early start tomorrow, hate early starts, Rick

ORCI probably would not allow them, they are phasing out Mondao's as they are too hard, Rick

Well had a good day, 1st race stuffed NS track rod & drive shaft, and bent OS rear wheel 30 degrees after 4 laps, 2nd race sorted track rod & shaft, but another 4 laps and rolled it, (4 rolls), 3rd race got spun on top bend after 3 laps stalled it and battery gone no start, but at least I have a car for Arena Essex next week end, just got to do some repairs first, Rick

After rolling (4 rolls) I am told, I just remember being on the side struggling to get out of the harness, as my goggles had come off and had eyes full of crud.

Never thought I would ever bend that roof plate, takes 2 to lift it up there, on the last race I had to keep my head to the left as roof has come down.

Roll cage and harness fixings stood up well, no problems there this time, I have been known to pull the harness out of the floor, so now fix to roll cage bolts.

But the steering wheel is still in the right place so this motor will be racing at Arena next Sunday.

Never done any grass track, only been doing bangers for 11 months, but you have to do something to get a buzz, life would be a bit drab otherwise dont you think, anyway I enjoy it and suprisingly so does the wife but she did get a bit concerned when I rolled, and to my disapointment did not get any pictures, never mind there is always next time, Rick

So what is considered the "best" (toughest, reliable-ist?) wagon of choice ???

Not easy to answer that one, mondao's are hard but suffer engine problems, with an escort engine and honda carbs fantastic but wont be allowed to race mondao's next year, nor volvos they are too hard compared to most other cars on the track so they are reconned to have an unfair advantage, primeras are good and reliable as are hondas, my next car will be a honda, model just depends an what they have at the scrappie, Rick
