Well I have just sold my Land Rover 90. I am now about to get a Terrano. I wanted a motor that was still a 4x4 but a bit more reliable on the road. The Landy sucked money like no tomorrow. So I am getting a L reg Terrano. Only done 129000 and is pretty clean for her age. I have been told that these engines in the terrano are pretty solid. Anything I should look at? She is clean all round!!! Anyway looking forward to offroading with some of you chaps on here and look forward to meeting some of you in my area. Thanks see you soon.

Hi there and welcome aboard. One thing I can suggest is check the front auto locking hubs. If they have not been used there is a part called a brake ring that breaks. Check previous threads about 4wd not working. Other than that give it a good service. When you become a full member you'll have access to Downloads section in the quick links where you'll find stacks of how to's:thumbs

Thanks for that have tested out the 4WD and it all works. I used to have a frontera so I know about the front auto hubs issue.

One question I do have is my turbo whistles quite loud when I put my foot down is that normal?

Apart from that she drives like a dream!!!! :thumbs

Just bought a very similar T2 and the turbo on it doesn't make any noise at all. Mind you it'd be hard to hear it over the rest of the engine and other noises. :augie

My engine is nice and quiet my turbo makes a loud whistle noise at hi speed or hi revving. Apart from that she is a very good motor.

NO its in the normal filter housing!!! I can hear it when I am doing around 70. My mate who has a Nissan patrol said that sounds normal. However the engine pulls ok and does not smoke. Its only done 131000 for a L reg thats pretty low esp for a diesel.

I will also bring a friend of mine The big pimp. He has a very special short wheel base Nissan patrol. With a Nissan skyline straight 6 engine in which has about 325BHP!!!!

Here are some pics of my little motor. I had a Land Rover Defender before, changed due to to much maintenance. I am hoping my new Terrano is easier on the pocket as I have heard so many good things about this 2.7TD engine!!!

+2 front n rear shocks
+2 rear springs
wind the torssion bar up
loose ya rear anti roll bar
30" tyres

Not again!!! Been there done that. Just wanted a 4x4 for some nice gentle green laning now.

I might just put on a 2" set of springs and leave it at that I really dont know yet. I dont want to ruin the drive. Its so smooth at the moment!!!

I think my turbo has already been done!!!

It sounds like a world rally car. So I will leave that alone. Mind you when I see you over the pub I will let you have a listen and see what you think. Paul reckons it sounds sweet!!! :lol
