my terrano 2 has alloys and 235/75/15 tyres what tyre size increase can i go to on standard ride height saying with 15 inch wheel thx in advance

I'm sure you can get 30" tyres on a standard set up & poss 31" with a bit of triming :? but HB or someone else will be able to tell you better than me :oops:

I am in desperate need of some mud terrains as I keep on getting stuck in the mud with these road tyres!!

This is not really my field :oops: if you wanted to fit 3 amps & 4 sub woofers + speakers then I could tell you what to do :lol: :lol: :lol: I'm sure 30"'s will go on a standard Mav but i'm sure HB had to remove his mud flaps as they were catching a bit on full travel off road. TBH the next time i've got to replace my tyres i'll be looking at 30"-31" tyres & trim mud flaps, bumper etc if needed :smile:

Maybe you could tell me the best place to fit a 9ft long whip antennae?

bought it with a gutter mount, but - to my utter shame - no gutters!!

Tyres vary in sizes despite what they say on the sides of em.

My yokohamas are 30's but as said above I needed to remove the front mud flaps as they were catching and any bigger and they'd have caught on the bodywork just under the flaps. Yet other people have fitted 31's with no problems (think some people have had to trim the bumper, that may be on newer models than mine which is the first shape).

A suspension lift will help with clearance a little but only a body lift will truly give you more clearance unless you fit bigger bump stops to limit travel, which is sort of self defeating IMHO.

so if i want to give the maverick 30" or 31" tyres, i am going to need to give her a lift then.
i take it a 3" lift will be ok? have to change springs and shocks and put in dislocation cones i think. does this come in a kit?

No for 30's or 31's you'll be fine as standard except you may need to take front mud flaps of and/or trim the bottom of the bumper a little, also might need to adjust lock stops or fit wheel spacers if going to 31s as they are usually 10.5 wide.

2" seems to be the highest practical lift without having to import stuff from the states or get calmini gear fitted by LA Supacrooks cos they won't sell it separately IIRC. "2 kit is just springs, longer shox are a good idea and wind torsion bars up at the front, to get things right you then need the camber/castor checking and resetting on the front end.

sorry boys but fairly new to 4x4ing whats these 30 and 31 tyres all about dont mean to sound daft but more used to lowering cars and fitting larger wheels and low profile rubber.

Once you get so far up the sizing the numbers change to the american way of notating it for instance I have 30/9.5/15

9.5" wide
15" wheel as usual

What you do have to look out for is manufacturers variences, remould tend to be bigger than labelled but not alwasy and its the size of the carcase, so the deep tread can make the tyre bigger in reality. For instance some of the T2s came on 235/75/16, they work out to be just short of 30" diameter and fit no problem at all yet my 30" mud tyres rubbed on the front mud flaps, all down to manufacturers differences and tread depth.

Not quite, when they changed to 16" rims they also fitted 235/70 R16's, slightly lower profile.
