How about we setup a Facebook account for the club?
Lets put our creative caps on and come up with a name - or use the sites name!!

Think this might be a good idea to promote the club. Who knows, we might even get more members from North East Scotland!!

would it not be better to set up a group .. and then let people join instead of being friends of the account.... anyone with a FB account can make a group.. then let people join.... view pictures and links back to the site

Hi ladyinred,

Yep, a group sounds the way to go.
I'm thinking the name of the club for the group. Got to be recognisable to existing club members. And people interested in joining the club will automatically know the name.

Facebook appears to be more of an english thing, bebo seems to be the main one up in scotland therefore if you are looking for people in NE scotland you may be better setting it up on bebo as well as facebook.

Facebook is the one I use.

Never even been to Bebo, although my son thinks the sun shines out of it.

I use Facebook to keep in contact "the fun way?" with family and friends in South Africa. Also old work mates from Aberdeen.

But quickly getting bored with it. email is just as good!! and a hell of a lot quicker!

wouldnt msn be easier faster?

talk msn or skype to my dad there and you get this blank look!

search and destroy on the keyboard and he is happy. no rush and he can fix his spelling errors.

Got that in my email spam folder so dumped it.

Also received that email. Maybe the way to go - advertise the club on Facebook AND they can join from there.

whats wrong in the way members join now?
lets face it they need to see the site before they join

ok if facebook or bebo gets the site better known thats fine but as creating a paypal account cant see the point and mav must have enough to do running it as it is

just my thoughts

im sure mav would apreciate the revenue wherever it comes from

depends on how much work is involved in the overseeing of it.
my motto is if its not broken dont mend it and the club seems to run the way mav is running it

id have thought (famous last words!) you create an acount in club name with web site link few vids like yours ew pics and jobs good un

16-01-2008, 21:50
Mav does have loads to do.. i'm sure the FB thing could just be a GIANT advert and not complicate it too much .. and any member can upload pics / vids etc.. to the Group, no need for admin etc to check it etc.. as FB people moderate for inapropriate (sp) material etc

either way .. I'm sure if you all put your heads together you will come up with something..

dont get me wrong i am all for promoting the club i am against creating the paypal account the club has one already and as i said before they will come to the website to see before parting with a tenner so no need for any other paypal account

I was not having a dig robobone .. in agreement with you .. we only need an advert then the site can speak for itslef ..

17-01-2008, 02:42
Yep, in agreement there myself actually. thanks for pointing that one out to me. they can come to the site via FB and if they then like what they see they can join up.

i have a few friends in countries in europe and japan and south africa and some other place. they know people who drive nissan 4x4's, so there might be some memberships to be gotten there. if we get memberships from FB, then it is going to be a wonderfull and free advertising tool.

GLASS have a member up there. Seamus McNally - you can contact him on scotland.rep@glass-uk.org. I'm sure he'll be pleased to hear from you. A few of us did a lane or two north of the border last July - Tushielaw/Tibbie Shiels, An Sluggan, Abernethy Forest, Corrieyairack Pass (part) - twas the first time Seamus had ever met another GLASS member.

He is currently "between vehicles" - maybe you could persuade him to buy a Nissan and join the club.

Cheers
Andrew
