Price for changing 6 Spark Plugs on a Ford Mondeo Mk3 ST220 :lol

Actually it wasnt funny , Garage was not a main dealer.

Guess ?

I know the answer to this one (as of 3 years ago anyway) but as a former mondeo owner and driver of most variants..........whatever it cost it wasnt worth it :naughty

ST220 has to have inlet manifold removed to gain access to rear plugs

Oh yea it averages 22.1mpg :doh

Motorcraft plugs should be around £50, the most expensive ngks are about £8 each. Its not a difficult job to do inc the manifold. It can be done in an hour quite easily.

Do they definitely need doing? lot of urban myths about them but as I remember the service interval is a big one.

Sounds like a garage to avoid.

yea they needed doing front 3 plugs has a 5mm gap :lol , looked like plugs have never been replaced. ford say 60k miles apparently.

5mm :eek: bloody hell. I do remember a lot of debate over the gapping. Ithink it was worry from those who paid out £200. yes I think it is either 60 or 70 thou they need doing at.

I seem to recall proper gap is 1.4 mm or around that? someone posted that his had ran like a bag of spanners so theyd put the gap down to 1 mm and it ran great...................hmmmmmmm............i wasn't aware of anything Ford being that precise :naughty

Still, its a fair way off 5 mm.
