View Full Version : User Names Not a joke or fun but where else to start this thread

Like some e-mail address's I often wonder what evokes some of the user names ?

Is solarman a whiz on solar energy cells ? Does Zippy watch Fireball XL5 or was that Zooney on his way home?

I will start the ball rolling - I call myself "Macabethiel" after McCabe Thiele Method used to calculate the height of distilation columns or H.E.T.P's.

I am a qualified Chemical Engineer who never got to do any engineering and so as not to waste my 4 years at Uni: I started using engineering names as passwords etc.

As I am a poor speller at the best of time it was shortened to be what it now is.

Do you have a story to tell ?

My user name was RedMavTaj as the car is a red Maverick reg number TAJ470R (my surname is TAYLOR) but as I now have a Series Landrover too it didn't tie in with both cars .

So at the tender age of 52 MudLifeCrisis seemed a lot more accurate ;O)

Muckypup
19-07-2010, 11:21
Haha!
Muckypup - When I was a wee chiddler and had been playing out on the farm I would always return home covered in mud or cow muck. My mum would always say "come on Muckypup, time for your bath"... :D

And seeing I am still quite youthful (in mind, perhaps not body) and love getting down and dirty I though it quite fitting :lol

lacroupade

My original username in 2005 when I joined the site first time was Croupade...I lapsed my membership because in those days half the guys on here had their heads jammed firmly up their arses - it was NOT a fun place to be.

Rejoined a couple of years ago and added the 'la' as my original name was still showing as live and unusable....

As for what 'croupade' means, you'll have to google it LOL.....and its not the horsey one....:augie

New & different car, new forum, new name. Have bloody great tribal wolf design on me spare wheel cover and dwell in a street named Ethelwulf.

For the curious, I can be found as 'Jae' on the Skyline forums that matter (www.gtr.co.uk & www.skylineowners.com) :D

Is solarman a whiz on solar energy cells ?

Yep I am a top man on Solar, and 216 was the number of the first house I built that was designed around and incorporated Solar as well as other very inovative techknowlogyes (no I cant spell either). Rick

hmm,

nice to see this topic start again, for all newbees.

well was rbrt, as my initials, not short for robert
as some thought.

about a week before sold t2 for troll thought would
be nice to have a topical name hence ttt2,

was a t2, still in my little picture, avater?
thomas is the surname, thought it had a certain
ring, almost like jones the fish, as bit welsh too, but
dont know which bit?

quite like trains too so play on words with a really
useful engine as well.

toot toot.

some people just have no imagination :doh

And some people don't take the time to write down usernames and passwords and the like when we sign up for stuff and pick something that we can't possibly forget like bits of our name.

so come on plank, whats behind yours, think i recall
but better from you...

guess annoying 4x4 would suit all of us, especially from
non 4x4 community, perhaps i'll use that when i join
the ramblers association...or mountain bike club, or
pony club.

clivvy

mines simple really, much like me. Clivvy is just one of my nick names. im a bit daft, and a bit of a weedling, so most people call me Clivvy, long for Clive!

hope its nothing to do with our plank though

Thomas-the-Terrano2

really the simon of swansea, what a coincidence me neither...

ok well think plank its a reference to a plain car in his family.

(RIP) PLANK
23-07-2010, 23:42
well after considerable interest!

the name 'plank' came from my first T2 as cars with no extras such as electric windows metalic paint etc. are know in the used car trade as a 'plank' and thus hard to sell. My firt T2 was one, and so is the t2 i own now!

and on top of all this when i think back to some of the rows i have had with members (most of them forgiving) and stupid posts i have made, maybe I am a bit of a Plank too.

Anyway it was nice to have made my mistakes amongst friends and a few noteable ones being TTT2 (the first one i had a row with?) Mav (for putting up with me) and DaveD. if i owe any more apologies form an orderly queue :lol

But this is the only forum i am a consisitent member of wether i have a nissan 4x4 or not. So keep up the good work!

think we have all had our days with the arguments or disagreements plank not necessarily just with you.

im sure you would all agree ive had my times.

BUT i think we have all become stronger together because of it

but the way im always thinking plank = the plank sykes thing
is if i remember correct someone built a new fence in the garden then reversed over it:doh:doh:doh..... please tell me im right :bow

big point is we can all pretty much come here and just chill and sort problems or just pop in for fun. awsome place this is

When I was in the car trade in the 1960's we called low spec cars "Square Wheelers"

If it was a Mercedes or Audi we called them "Poverty Spec" - just envy really.

We called Hire Purchase or Credit Sale "Chukky" because of the kick back commission on the interest charges !

Could have called myself Chukky-The-Square-Wheeler !!
