well...neither. hes just got some intelligence about him. plus hes suffered some post traumatic stress, so as a survivor, hes done the right thing. good on him, hope he makes a speedy recovery and gets on with his life, he may end up doing some real good out of this.

I think it's hard to criticise what anyone does under such extreme circumstances, I know i couldn't deal with it. I agree whith Clivy just a bloke in a situation he couldn't cope with and the rest is just what came next.

When he spoke publicly about things, he was lucid and coherent. Not a shadow of any sign of problem. In fact he seemed to be enjoying himself. Maybe a good actor or good at covering up? we'll never know.
However at the end of the day I wouldnt want him back beside me. Whatever the cause, he is flakey cannot be relied on when things heat up.
Thinking about him , I found it very interesting in the past "people watching" in the time leading up to the first gulf war . Groups of service people who'd joined up to play footie, visit sunny places and get pissed realised they really would have to think about pointing that nasty bang stick at someone and conflict was messy.
Its a tough world but we were all volunteers :naughty

much much too much of a black or white question. Most of us in conflict are in the grey area, doing a job.

I don't really think that we can make a balanced judgement as we don't have all the facts. The only thing that we can say for sure is that he signed a contract of his own free will. Not too many years ago he wouldn't of been sent to prison, probably a wall with a blind fold around his head. So you could say he's lucky but like I said we don't have all the facts.

well unless you have been in the forces during campaigns, and on the front line where your mates are being shot and blown up, i cant see how we can answer that question really. obviously someone will have been there and maybe answer the question from personal experience.
