Do you agree?

I do 100%

An incident occurred in a supermarket recently, when the following was witnessed:

A Muslim woman dressed in a Burkha (A black gown & face mask) was standing with her shopping in a queue at the checkout.

When it was her turn to be served, and as she reached the cashier, she made a loud remark about the English Flag lapel pin, which the female cashier was wearing on her blouse.

The cashier reached up and touched the pin and said, 'Yes, I always wear it proudly. My son serves abroad with the forces and I wear it for him'.

The Muslim woman then asked the cashier when she was going to stop bombing and killing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi....

At that point, a gentleman standing in the queue stepped forward, and interrupted with a calm and gentle voice, and said to the Iraqi woman:

'Excuse me, but hundreds of thousands of men and women, just like this lady's son have fought and sacrificed their lives so that people just like YOU can stand here, in Britain, which is MY country and allow you to blatantly accuse an innocent check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen'.

'It is my belief that if you were allowed to be as outspoken as that in Iraq, which you claim to be YOUR country, then we wouldn't need to be fighting there today'.

'However - now that you have learned how to speak out and criticise the British people who have afforded you the protection of OUR country, I will gladly pay the cost of a ticket to help you pay your way back to Iraq'.

'When you get there, and if you manage to survive for being as outspoken as you are here in Britain, then you should be able to help straighten out the mess which YOUR Iraqi countrymen have got you into in the first place, which appears to be the reason that you have come to MY country to avoid.'

Apparently the queue cheered and applauded.

IF YOU AGREE.... Pass this on to all of your proud British friends..

I just did...................!!!

er...as part of the discussion here, how is it racist? no, im being genuine, how is it? sometimes I cant see what people mean, so need clarification...at first glance, it doesnt read racist to me, and doesnt have racist undertones that I can decipher.. Sure, it reads and refers to two races of people, and touches on political issues, but i cant see the racism. it would be interesting to know for sure that the story is real, im not so sure...!

hmm..i think i see now. i think because im genuinly a bit naive, i just dont see what some people mean, this is why i tend to ask a lot of questions so that i can udnerstand what a person actually means-i prefer straight talking.

If it were true then i don't think it could be classed as racist, just telling what happened. But as someone has made this story up ,I suspect to drum up a bit of anti Muslim feeling, then that would make it racist.

Very simular to the little girl at the airport meeting the troops that has been doing the rounds for ages.

Funny thing is around here the poor checkout girl would have probably been Muslim too ;O)

It's fantasitic to see the way people can see through things like this to the 'indirect rascisim' (see race relations amendment act 2000) that lies beneath. it is also intersting to see how things like this can 'snowball' out of control and drag intelligent reasonable people down a racist path using simple logical "truth's".

a very good and well developed thread! :thumbs

true or not, we should take a leaf out of the Australian prime ministers book, and stand up for our rights, and not the rights of the immigrants, our government is to eager to give them their rights, and what rights do we "English people" have, none, send them all back to were they came from, and look after our people and children first. and sorry if i upset anyone but i am racist. but i never used to be it's the way this country has gone that has turned me, i've got 2 children and they cant have there own homes, mortgage to expensive, no council houses, private rent £800 per week, new homes being built round my area are for blacks and immigrants from London, and that is a FACT and they are being paid to move down here. rant over.

Interesting link, i do think these things are best discussed though and where better than amongst friends?

I can see how this could easily turn into a row though and that's a "FACT" :augie

£800 per week rent is crazy.. theres old people near me who cant aford there rent nor can they heat there house in winter. im not against people coming here for sanctury but when the danger is truly over they must go home and stop draining our country.. there is loads of visitors near me and most dont work but neither do the people born here.. all the council house around me are now offered to the polish before people like my family, who has to wait for 1 to be turned down .. the national heath is on its knees, theres not enough houses and social services cant aford to keep the jobless, my retirement age has gone up and will go up again

and to top it off there soldiers dieing almost daily..
maybe you cant condone racist undertones but you cant blame them for bad feelings..

It is a story that'll make the heart of any racist flutter with pride.

Like a lot of stuff it pisses me off, we , as in the Brits are far from angelic on this score.

Lets take the example of a Polish friend of mine who recently obtained a job as a bus driver. He competed on equal interview terms for exactly the same working terms and conditions as various other individuals including white english drivers. He got the job fair and square because he was better in the opinion of the interviewer/tester. He's proved his worth and is now driving all over the UK & Europe for them.

However when he later bumped into one of the other , english , candidates he was subjected to verbal abuse along the lines of "Polish job stealing shite"

Bad loser or racist pratt, I'll leave you to work it out.

Yes there are a lot of discontented people, all looking for a soution and finding none, instead it is easy to see why people start pointing the finger of blame, and point it at those who are obviously different.
The truth is the world is in a mess not just the UK hence the amount of displaced people. Displaced for whatever reasons, good or bad, at the end of the day people are just people we are all just doing our best to get along the best we in our given circumstances.
