Well I've given her a good looking over, fixed exhaust bracket. Checked for anything loose, found rear number plate flapping about so removed and put loads of double sided tape on there. Checked the lights and replaced a brake light bulb. Given her a good wash and even found time to give her a coat of polish. She looks fantastic:thumbs just hope the tester thinks so too:nenau
Wish me luck

Centre Steering Drag Link
Small Hole in the Sill
Advises
Rear Arches near seat belt mounts that have been done once and the NS Front inner wing and wheel arch now have F******g big hole in now they've had a good poke around.
So far quote for sill £30 and £150 plus to do the rest of the welding. I have not got a clue about the drag link price yet but I'm sure I heard somewhere that one of the links is very difficult to get hold of.

Drag link is easy to do :thumb2
Just need to undo the steering arm joint and the track rod end ball joint on both sides:rolleyes:
Simples. You shouldn't need to re track either if it was ok before:cool:
PS, can I have your old drag link please:D

Cheers Makeitfit, is it easy to part the joints?
Well a what a club we have here, Larson is coming over to take a look at the welding on Sunday. Clivvy is going to borrow a MIG, hope he can fly it tho:lol So all being well we will decide when best to do the welding and off we go.
Thinking about taking the motor across to garage that MOT'd Clivvy's. Not 100% sure the drag link is buggered and that garage couldn't fault Clivvy's drag link. I guess it depends on whether it's within the ten days to take it back to where it was tested today as it'll be a free retest if all the work has been done.

If you have to crack a joint, er HIT IT with a good size hammer on the end of the casting:augie A decent twatting usually does the job:lol
It distorts the metal for a split second and bingo, bob's your fanny's aunt:cool:
:clap Come on Jim you can do it my old friend :thumbs
Good club this keeps you going :grouphug

Jim
Sorry I didn'nt mean you were old just the car:thumbs
If your old I'm dead:lol:lol:lol
No I'm still alive :):thumbs
Good luck:)
when my car failed its MOT badly, i read so many reports from people whos car had failed, then PASSED from proper legit mot centres, such as council run ones.
id go to Chris in Elland (fingers crossed) he will find nothing wrong with the drag link-to advise though, I have ZERO play in my steering, and my failure was "excessive play in drag link joints" or whatever, so if you have no play, then perhaps you will be ok. When you ring Chris, just tell him yoru from the club that Clive is a member of, if hes forgoton who I am , Im ANDREW BURROWS mate, he knows Andy very well and hes done two of my cars recently!
time to get the kurust and hammerite no rust paint...

Well I really can't THANK Larson, Clivvy and Clivvy's mate enough for what they have done.
Between them they have really saved the day and Jim's Terrano lives to "lane" another year. The welding is done completed and looks a real good job. She goes back for retest in the morning so by this time tomorrow the ticket will be in my hands.
Got a bit of a water leak, think it's from the seam in the engine bay. Once it's dried out I'll spend some more time with the sealant gun.
What a crackin club this is!!!!! where else would complete strangers dive in to help you out.
:bow:bow:bow:bow:bow
Thanks
Jim
PS wish me luck again, the Reno goes in on Wednesday for it's MOT:doh
good luck for both Jim, but especially for the Reno!
