:)
im happy today, because I have managed to do some work on my car. Firstly, on Saturday I managed to do an oil and coolant change on my MAzda MX6. Never done an oil change before, but managed it, took a while but next time it wont. Made a big difference to the car too, sounds sweet as now.
Anyhoo, onto 4x4. today I managed to change the fuel filter, you may laugh, but that filter was so tight, i had to completely remove it , and wedge it into my work bench, then put a load of "strength" into loosening it!!
I did it, and found that the little sensors bit had bits on it? so gave that a clean, and poured the diesel into my incinerator, figured its probably contaminated. Gave the rest of the filter a clean, and fitted my new one, did as it said and screwed on till seal is met, then 3/4 turn. so next time I should be able to do it again easily.
Primed it up, took a while, and on initial startup it jerked and spluttered, almost like it did when I had trouble going up hill last week. Then sprang into life and sounded great. Took it for a drive round the back and up the main road, TONS better. Feels sprightlier, more powerful, and seems to sound more like a terrano now than it did before, you know that typical clatter they make? like that!
Cant see any smoke now at all, but need to re check later (had bit of black smoke before change).
I also had a look at my intercooler again, and removed/cleaned the pipes. The inside of the inlet looks dirty, but will post about that later.
so all small stuff, but for me a big achievment, i'm very pleased with myself, and all thanks to you guys for your awesome advice.:thumbs
