Hi guys. I am a new member who has just purchased a T2. Not only is it my first 4x4 its also my 1st Nissan. The car seems fantastic and it looks like it had the manual gearbox oil changed, brake fluid changed the engine oil changed.

I dont have anything in the way of garage receipts for the car to indicate what work has been done to the car but the service book is stampted up to date (although to me that doesnt mean too much). Its a 98 2.7 TDi with 100K miles. I suspect i will have to do a few bits just for my own piece of mind.

The temp gauge is running very cold and the heater is barely warm. I havent checked the rad hoses yet but suspect its the thermostat. For the price I will just change it anyway.

My other car is a 89 Pontiac Trans Am 5.7 V8 and I am a committee member on the Pontiac Owners Club.

Happy Driving everyone.

Neil

Hi Neil and welcome aboard. Well I'm sure your of a similar opinion, if you don't know for sure better make sure yourself. You don't need to worry about a timing belt or chain as they're gear driven:thumbs
Good idea to change the rear diff oil and ensure proper LSD oil is used not gear oil and additive as this won't do. Probably not a bad idea to change the rest of the oil's to be on the safe side too.
Other than that drive and enjoy, time to get it muddy but if you do fancy a bit of green laning or off roading take another 4x4 with you to tug one another out if needed.

As for the water temp, they run quite cool anyway. First job is to change the pollen filter, theres a download for this in the Quick Links section. Mine was still cold after that so I changed the thermostat from the standard 82 degree to an 88 degree, this has made it warmer too and temp gauge goes about half way too. Still got to go through a hot day like this so will have to keep an eye on it just in case it boils.
