If it sounds like fun go for it....But go prepared.. you never know what you will have to pull out!!!! ( usually a landrover or sommet!! )

But seriousley we went out a 12 noon saturday with kid and dogs for a walk in the woods got caught in blizzards by 3:30 we were in the pub with 2 rescued people having pulled out a police landy with 5 other rescuees in it, and waited till 6:30pm til the rescued snow plough cleared the way down.

This it troll in car park after an hour. It is still iced up to day!!!

Take care

Now tell me just why do we have 4x4's:lol

Is that an amber beacon on top with a lucky shot of it flashing or just a street lamp in the right place.

Jim T

PS still waiting for more snow but we now have full warnings of it from Met Office:thumbs

Street lamp!! Street lamp The nearest street lamp is about 5miles to the east and a dose of ear popping down!! Through 8 - 15 foot drifts that the ploughs didn't clear till sunday afternoon. That was ths Pub Sign in the background..!

This is a pic my wife took as we had just pulled the over enthusiastic copper out of the drift.. she turned the flash of so as not to annoy him.

I asked if he had a rope to pull him out with but he said no, This I thought a bit od but later found out that their patrol car could not get onto the moor top so they went to the local Landrover dealer and comandeered one. ( I'll have that one please!! ) and by ek he gave it some beans!!:clap

Well done to the two bobby's who put them selves at risk for Joe public above and beyoned the call of duty!!!!!!:clap

Cheshire snow....snow....snow
Schools shut...I'm on ferry service taking my daughters to work and back.
Some kids have just built a snowman in the middle of the road[did look funny..but dangerous] I was going out to move but a vehicle did it for me, I bet it cracked something. :doh

south yorks got about 4 inches and still throwing it down.

currently first buses in sheffield pulled out of service and
tram routes affected by stuck cars!

believe councils ploughing rather than gritting.

now trying to decide if try to drive to work or play the buses
off card...afterall excess is much higher than loss of days pay.

This morning we woke to our fourth snowfall, our road, pavements and drive have been almost imposible since well before xmas. Our wheelie bins havent been emptied for over a month, no grit as been laid so I suppose the bin men cant get around. The terrano in 4x4
worked very well in the deep snow and thick ice, but in 2x it is useless, wheels spinning fish tailing and going nowhere. On the drive, one wheel on ice other on cleared tarmac the wheel on ice just spun the other did nothing. I would have thought the lsd would have helped but it didn't. The lsd oil was changed six months ago. The good thing about this snow, no wind, it's been very calm otherwise there would have been severe drifts . regards bri

Have travelled around Hawes and outlying Dales lanes today(sadly at work). Deep snow and drifts which apart from the steepest hills have been mostly in 2xwheel drive. The lsd seems to work well when the auto is in snow mode i.e. no 1st gear engaged. When forced to use 4x4h she was as good as all the L.R.'s i have driven in the past. Pirrelli Scorpions seem to be well up to the job as well. Shame I did not have a camera as the views were spectacular.

This was the view earlier this evening while practising a bit of 4WD powersliding in the car park in town:augie......currently theres 5 inches sitting on top of the beemer (whch hasn't moved for almost a month!) and its still throwing it down.

Met Office is predicting anywhere from 10-16 inches right across my patch so no work tomorrow!!! yippee!

4" overnight here (and yes, I was out playing in it all night in the Mav!), snowing steadily most of the day, and now it's really coming down quite heavily - they're predicting we're gonna be about the worst hit area tonight with between 12" & 18":)

Had about 3 inches down my way, which of course means it IS the end of the world... Sigh.

Just helped a mate out by doing the three mile round trip to collect his missus from work. Something about his V8 Mustang being a tad too sideways all the time to actually get anywhere. :D

If I'm not mistaken, its sadly become a massive council recyling plant....lots of metals still but all the usual rubbish. I scavenged a few bits there in my youth, also at Bert Haines in Wantage if you know that place - even that is now selling new furniture and kitchens alongside so-called architectural salvage (strictly down-market stuff you understand! LOL).

What happened to the days when you could keep your car running on a shoestring? So much for green living....:doh
