Hi to all
I'm considering upgrading the old girl (my '96 T2) for a late-ish 3 ltr T2. Anyone out there with 3ltr experience can tell me what main faults to look for when buying?
Regards CL

I'm not aware of any CL - the engine has a long history in the Patrol where it was a bit problematic and known for blowing pistons, but that was sorted with a factory mod just before they deployed it in the T2 (no known occurrences since then). The rest is all standard MkIV T2, no other changes, so you know it inside out.
Check somewhere like parkers.com for more info. :thumbs

Only issue really is the Sticking High oil Pressure switch.
the 3ltr has 2 one for low running below 2500rpm i think.
Other is for over that.
It sticks sometimes and the high pressure test light stays on.
Not heard about the oil sump leak before.
Thanks

Iansjones and Lacroupade many thanks for your guidance. I'll be looking for a good '03/'04 3ltr in the new year so I'll heed your advice.
Bri I think you were right about the oil leak on the Braithwaites T2, probably one off. (I've emailed you re that one).
Regards to all CL
