View Full Version : 98 Terrano diesel
Hi there, dont know if you guys can help. Parked up the old terrano two days ago in the normal fashion, came to start it yesterday, wont fire up at all. I've checked for water in the filter & glow plugs working, all seems ok. Anybody got any tips as to what to do next? I am going to see if the fuel cut off solenoid is stuck shut today - any further suggestions gratefully received.

Hi, welcome
with mind when it would start, but all lights ect works,
take a look at the batery terminals, some times they break, just enough to stop starting.

Is it cranking over at all or not?
Thanks for the replies, I will check the battery terminals but it does turn over ok for a while (30 to 40 cranks total) before it flattens the battery.

does the heater light come on as normal?? just wondering if they have failed. you may have to remove them and test on a battery, check for broken wires, i have had this problem and it turned out to be the battery terminal, so worth a good check over.
Ok will do. The heater light does come on as normal, I've got a feeling its something to do with the fuel cut off solenoid, we will see. Still I like a good mystery!
Just as a follow up, problem turned out to be the connector that goes to the fuel cut solenoid. Cleaned the connectors, all is well. In the process the starter motor packed up - now been replaced. Noticed the water pump is leaking any tips on replacing it?

If you pay your tenner membership you'll have access to downloads section. In the downloads section you'll find a workshop regarding changing the water pump:thumbs
